Rottweiler Mum

I was almost late for work yesterday. On my way there, I was approaching a 3 way stop, and saw a woman walking down the sidewalk with 2 Chihuahuas. The dogs were a full leash length in front of her. Anyway, the car opposite me had stopped, and I was waiting for him to go (as he was first there), he was turning left, and this woman was still walking towards the street he would be turning down.
Every see a disaster coming before it happens, and be unable to do anything about it? Well it happened, the man turned and obviously neither the man or the woman was paying attention. It was all so fast, I honked my horn (it was all I could think to do), but I was too late. The dogs were both hit, the woman still on the edge of the sidewalk. I jumped out of my car and ran over, everyone was hysterical, the man swore he didn't see the dogs, the woman bawling and screaming looking at her poor dogs laying motionless in the snow. I was darn close to tears myself. The dogs were hit by the tires, and after checking them over, they were both dead instantly. I left my name and number (work one also), in case the police were contacted and I had left the scene, but didn't want to be late for work. I havn't had a phone call, so I assume they didn't need me. But how heartbreaking. ![]() |

OMG BB I am so sorry. What a way to start your day, who incredibly awful for everyone involved. Man, talk about a senseless tragedy.
Good for you that you stopped BB and gave all of your contact info, you really are my kind of person! |

What a crummy day
It sounds like a terrible situation for everyone. It was so nice of you to get out and offer your assistance -- do you think the guy would have stopped if you hadn't honked your horn? |

Yes, it was an aweful thing, and wasn't the best start to my day, but I can't imagine being any of the two people involved. My day was a blessing compared to theirs.
Icey, honking my horn or not, wouldn't have made a difference, by the time I actually hit it, the car was already on top of the dogs. |

Something like that just isn't going to be out of your mind and heart for a long, long time. That poor lady too. I don't know how in the world she is going to get thru the next few months of bad pain. How horrible!!

I don't know what to say. That's just absolutely heartbreaking.
I not only feel bad for the owner but for the person driving the car. I'm sure he feels devastated by the accident too. And what a terrible thing for you to witness Karen. for you too.Cass. |

Oh my gosh, that is so horrible!
I bet you felt sick for the rest of the day. I just can't believe that some people don't pay more attention to their surroundings when driving.. The poor woman must be totally devastated. |
