Some people!

This morning Gretchen went to the vet for her shots. While we were waiting to see the vet this lady comes in with a pittbull. Well, I knew there was trouble before she got in the door! The vet's office has a glass front. The dog was jumping, barking and pulling at the leash (he had a choke collar). The lady kicked the dog so hard that he fell to the ground. She fights her way in the door and his hair was standing on end and he lunged toward Gretchen, barking and growling. I had already scooped her up into my arms and was about to turn with my back towards him. (Better for me to get bitten than my baby.) Hubby had his walker in his hand incase he needed to fight the dog off. The lady then kicked the dog to the floor, twice. The receptionist told her to go ahead and take the dog to the back. I just don't understand how someone can be so stupid.

I forgot to add that the dog had a three inch "scar" on his neck from the choke collar.

OMG, that poor dog. It isn't his fault that he has a stupid owner that shouldn't own any dog, let alone a Pittie. It is stupid owners like that that make me want to scream.

How sad, the poor dog. Makes other people think that's what all pitties are like. That lady should not own any animal !

People like that make me absolutely ill!! I wonder how she'd like my foot up HER butt. How scary for you. I'm glad the vet's receptionist had the good sense to separate him right away.

Pit Bulls in the vet lobby make me so nervous because I don't trust them or the owners around here (they're all BYB bred, if not bred for fighting), and the lobby is so small, you wouldn't be able to move quickly. There was a lady with a pregnant Pittie in last time I was there (I think we were just picking up meds because I don't believe we had any pet with us), and it growled as we walked by. That is totally unfair to the other people (and animals!) in there, and it made me angry that someone would bring a pregnant dog with the potential to be aggressive into the vet office with no muzzle or separation. The lady was fairly elderly and didn't look able to handle it should that dog've lunged, either. All I could think was "what if I DID have Missie or Ollie with me and that dog had lunged before I saw it and picked them up?" Sickening. I try to give Pit Bulls the benefit of the doubt, but I'm losing faith in the breed quickly.

That poor dog - it makes me mad to see people kicking their dogs because of their own ability to not properly train them in the first place - IMO they should be kicking themselves to the ground for not being able to have at least some control over their dog.

I guess the only upside is that at least she was taking the dog to the vet - a lot of people that resort to this type of behaviour never even bother with vet visits.

Don't lose faith in the breed Kalena, if you should lose faith in anything it should be in the majority of the populations ability to handle certain breeds of dog.
It's sad that often the most popular dogs are the ones that should not be owned by 90% of people.

That poor dog. I hope it is taken away from that abusive woman. It breaks my heart to think it has to live like that with such a horrid woman. It deserves so much better.

Cass.

That lady should have come in alone, told the receptionist about the dog so she could get the ok to take the dog thru the back door. That dog could have really done some major injuries to a person or another dog. That lady needs to have that dog trained and stop kicking it to death. I would have called animal control on the spot if I had seen her kicking that poor dog. That really boils my blood!!!

I hear where you're coming from, TinyAlbinoDancer, and I would be ESPECIALLY afraid to have one of your gorgeious little Yorkies around any large dog that was not being properly controlled. It sure makes me sad, though, because it truly is NOT the breed. Well, in a way it is, because at the end of the day, they are a different animal. They've been breed for decades for power and aggression, and their tenacity is unmatched. But they are also the most loyal, loving dog you can find. And they have a TREMENDOUS sense of humor! They would not hesitate for an instant to die for you if you are their person. It's just a shame that people's stupidity has done so much damage to this beautiful creature. And if you own one, you **** sure better know what you are doing, and have that animal under control at absolutely all times. They are far, far too strong to be undisciplined and 1/2 trained. (oops! My apologies!! the site edited the "D" word for me! )
