Snow
Ok, here is my story for the day. Last night we got around 5ins of snow. This morning, I decided to take the dogs on a walk because it was a pretty nice day out (even though the snow was really deep and a neighbor was in the process of clearing out our lane so our lane wasn't all of the way clear).
So I clip the leashes on them and took them out. Blackie was acting like a mad man because he kept on wanting to play in the snow (he was on a 3 or 4 foot leash) and this was his first time out that day. Rose was acting quite nice but would occasionally try to run. Anywho, I was walking them down the lane and Blackie kept on pulling me and I was like, "Blackie, you have GOT to stop pulling be or I will slip and fall on my butt. Then I will be mad." Well, the walk went ok (I didn't fall on my butt [although Blackie almost made me one time and I slipped a couple of times] but my hands froze. [I had forgoten my gloves.]). I've decided though that the 'Winter Wonderland' song sung doggy style that Crossfire posted is Blackies theam song. He pulled me to every stinken tree just so he could mark it. (and when he pulled me, he pulled me. I had zero traction.) And then tonight, I let the dogs out of the garage to go potty (they are sleeping inside tonight because it is supposed to be below zero). They had been out for about 5 min but I didn't know if they had went potty or not, so I clipped the leashes on them and took them out in our yard. After we had walked maybe about 15ft Rose started squating and picking up her paws funny. I was like, 'What the heck?' Then it dawned on me that she was throwing a fit because the snow was getting on her paws and was really cold. I laughed and said, 'You poor little baby' and unclipped her so she could go back up to the porch. (She went lifting up her feet and throwing a fit about the snow.) Then Blackie turned around and saw Rose lifting up her feet like that so he decided to do it to and started throwing a fit. That cracked me up big time and when I let the dogs back into the garage and came inside, I asked my mom, 'Are our dogs pathetic or our are dogs pathetic?' Then I told her what they had done and that we were going to have to buy them the little doggy booties to where out in the snow. I just thought that was pretty funny and decided to share it all with you! (And when Blackie was able to run around in the snow after our walk, I think he enjoyed it more than my 4 year old sister did! lol ) |

Aw! How cute! Colby will get upset about snow too if it's too cold for her. But with Tippy it's like she wants to keep herself looking perfect. Out of my three she keeps her coat the cleanest, if she does get dirty it's usually not a lot, even if she hasn't had a bath in a while she (USUALLY
) doesn't smell like dead rabbit and poop. |

Ritz, that is too funny! B.B. is right, you should have gotten that on video!
We took Bailey and Lucy up to the mountains to play in the "real"snow today. We went sledding and took the dogs for a ride. Bailey loves the sleds and would bark the whole way down. Then she kept running back up the hill and waited for us to slowly climb up and go again. She wouldn't even wait for me to sit down. I had to keep pushing her off the sled so I could sit down and hold her in my lap. Lucy didn't do much except shiver. I brought her snuggly microwave heating disk and put it in her carrier under a blankie to keep her warm. The disk stays hot for 12 hours. Everytime I would unzip the carrier to see if she wanted out she would move to the far end so I couldn't get to her. She said "uh-uh...What, were you born in a barn??? CLOSE THE DOOR!!!" I kept whining to my husband that I wish we had a camera for Lucy's first day in the snow. He caved big time and we are going to look at new cameras tomorrow. ![]() |

I never thought of catching that on tape. Or even ina photo! That probably won't happen agian very soon (at least I hope it doesn't get down below zero). I let the dogs out to run around 5:30 yesterday and Blackie made snow doggies!! lol Rose doesn't like the snow a whole whole bunch (because it is cold, and wet, and it is hard to run in.......) but Blackie acts like a puppy everytime he gets to play in it. Blackie would have a BLAST if we ever took him sledding. I can just see us now, sitting on a slead with an 85lb dog on our laps attempting to go down a hill.....LOL

This last weekend we got a little snow. And I do mean a little, enough to make a few snow balls and that is about it. Anyway, Sunny and I were out playing frisbee and ball and I decided to make a snow ball to throw for her. She was sooo funny I would throw it and she would chase after it but couldn't figure out where it went once it landed. Then I kinda lobbed one to her and she caught it only to spit it out and look at me like what the heck are you trying to do to me! LOL She decided that wasn't very much fun so she went back to her favorite, frisbee!
