Blackie and Rose update...
...on their "I want to keep them inside but parents won't let me" progress. lol Well, mission "Get the dogs inside!" was a complete success!
Right now both dogs are zoned out on the couch...oh, I take that back. One is zoned out on the couch curled up into an odd looking ball, and the other is splayed out by my feet. They are both snoring, however. They have been living inside since Saturday evening, because of the cold weather. My mom has yet to complain once about them being in the house! Not about their hair, not about their stink, not about them getting into the trash...nothing. She was afraid that they'd be in to the trash, peeing all over the floor, getting into things, barking at night, begging for food, eating our cat and our bird. So far they haven't had any accidents, have ignored the bird and semi-ignored that cat, have thought about raiding the trash but when I told them no, they decided not to, slept through the night, and they sleep all day. Pretty good dogs if I do say so myself, I wonder who trained them? All of us kids like them being inside, so I won't be the only one putting up a fight when mom says, "Ok, time to put them back out. It is warm now." I'm just going to ignore the temperature and see how long I can keep them in without mom noticing! lol I'm sure that my dad would complian about them being inside (although, *gasp*, he did call Blackie cute the other day!), but he works all day, so he isn't around long enough to complain about them. We haven't crated them, we just gate them off in a section of the house at night. Last night we let them sleep in our front room on our couch and they loved it. Blackie is so funny though. He'll lay down on the couch and grunt, then when you walk by he'll start wagging his tail in a slow "I'm just so innocent and handsome, come pet me" way, and then he'll start making his little grunty/growly/contented sighs. lol He's such a silly dog. We painted our living room yesterday, so Blackie now has paint on his tail from wagging it and hitting the wall, and Rose has some on her ear. Silly dogs. I'd take some pics, but my sis' digital camera is malfunctioning, and if we took some pics with my mom's camera, by the time the film was developed I don't think it would matter anymore. Although I have noticed that Blackie has a few more fatty tumors on his tummy. Two more, and his old one is getting a tad bit bigger. My poor old boy. Rose is starting to get one on her tummy as well, or at least she has a noticable little knot. Is this condition hereditary, or does it just happen in older dogs?Anywho, just thought I'd give you an update on how good they are doing. ![]() |

Great news Ritz - I'm so glad you finally talked your mum around - and even if she does make a fuss when the weather's warmed up at least you were able to keep them inside when it was cold!Good luck in the rest of your mission - hope the dogs continue to behave themselves and your parents cave and let them in all the time! |

Awesome! I think they probably appreciate being inside that it's just not worth getting into trouble... Hehehe
![]() But no, that's really awesome. Training them helps a lot in the long run, and with them being a bit older, I don't think they're as tempted to be mischevious. ' I bet Blackie is in heaven when he's on that couch (Aaaahhhh) LOL |

Ha, my dad told me that today since it was going to be warming up the dogs had to go outside....they've stayed inside all day.
We weren't home for around three hour increments, and they did just fine. 'Course, dad's not home to complain about it, so he doesn't know. I have NO idea why he throws such a big fit when the dogs are inside when all they do is lay around and sleep, they don't get into the trash, they don't bark, they don't run around like mad dogs, they aren't tearing anything up, and he is never home when they are inside running loose anyways. *sigh* When he wants me to put them out tonight I'm going to confront him about it, but I don't know how well that is going to go. He is the authority figure in our family and what he says goes. I mean, who are they hurting sleeping inside? All we do is gate off our front room and aside from the gate being there, you wouldn't even know we had dogs in the house. They don't stink and they've both blown their coat, so shedding is minimal. *shrugs*Ah, and check out my pics thread for updated pics on my puppers! (Plus my various other critters. lol) |
