my fish had her babies!!!
last night i went to check on the platties and noticed they were all hiding in a corner which is a sign of birth amoung live bearers

she had 10 babies and sadley 2 were eaten but now i have 5 that are swimming around and 2 that are hiding in a plant

they are so cute and very very small so pictures will be taken when they get bigger that a seed for grass

i have to seperate the other 2 platties that are adlts in a breeding trap because they keep chasing the babies thinking they are food

i just re-counted and counted almost 15!!! little buggers must have been hiding

but non-the less i am happy to have birthed my first fry

actually it is a small number of fry

they usually have 100's

i got a tank divider so that the fises don't eat any other fish and i am still counting more fry (baby fish)

the wierd thing is that the fry weren't due for atleast a month but the mam was huge so it was unexpected

Congrats on the babies ! We had fry born once. I believe it was one of our fan tail guppies.. The widdle ones were so tiny !!

Cool! I remember when I had fancy tail guppies in my old tank, one of them had babies. I had a "floating breeder" thing, so the babies would stay safe until they were old enough to swim around and stay safe on their own. My entire tank ended up dieing though I don't know whatever happened.

Congratulations!!

Baby Platies are soooo cute...especially once they start to show their colours...

MANY years ago I had baby Swordtails....I didn't have the money for a tank divider or anything, so I just hung the net over the side of the tank in the water, and put the babies into it with a floating plant. Instant nursery!!

My White Clouds have babies every few days...they are sooo prolific! I don't even try save them...I consider them live food and a nice addition to their diet!!

Only one has survived from "fry-hood" and she's a beauty!!
