The Joys of Living in a Cold-Weather Climate
This morning I was taking the black rubber water bucket out to the kennel for the boys before heading off to school so they could have fresh unfrozen water to drink. I had filled the bucket nearly to the top so it would take longer to freeze in the cold and so once it began to freeze, the dogs would still be able to lick through the ice and get at water underneath. So anyways I was walking down the porch steps when I placed my foot wrong and slipped on the snow/ice sending the pail flying and me landing on my butt. I looked up and had only enough time to say ""Oh Sh*t!"" before all 6 litres of water came down over me completely soaking me. I wasnt wearing a coat either!
As fast as the water was seeping through my sweater to my skin and through my jeans and undies it was also freezing from the bitter cold air!!! I jumped up and dashed down the steps after the rubber water bucket now lying empty on its side at the bottom of the steps. By the time I reached my body was already shaking madly with chills and my teeth were chattering like a pissed off chipmunk. Without thinking I tried taking the steps 2 at a time to get in the house faster but the new ice that had formed from the spilt water offered no traction and down I went again! This time when I got back up I kept my wits about me and made search to step in the fresh snow that hadnt turned to ice and carefully made my way up the steps. Once in the house I discovered parts of my sweater was frozen solid!! When I passed a mirror I was shocked to see that most of my hair was WHITE with frost!!! As I began to defrost with the welcoming heat of the house, the very distinct smell of dog breath became my aroma and I was yet to stop chattering my teeth. I shed my wet clothes, hopped in the shower, then put on some clean dry clothes. Once I finally got to school I explained to my teacher why I was late partially expecting disbelief from him, yet for some reason my clumsy incident didnt surprise him one bit and instead he erupted in a fit of laughter!!! Oh the joys of living in a cold weather climate!! ![]() |

Wow, what a crappy start to your day! LOL At least you have a sense of humour about it now though, good thing too, I couldn't help but giggle a little reading it!
How did the dogs react to your oopsies? ![]() |

Hehehe luckily no injuries other than my pride of course
![]() The dogs came over and investigated but once I started muttering a few ""choice words"" they ran off to keep playing in the snow LOL Guess they figured if I was well enough to curse I was well enough to get myself into the house. |
