I was wondering if any one here has made Amish friendship bread ?
If so, do you have any recipe variations? Right now I'm baking blueberry with pecans. And another one with bananas and pecans. |

I bake a LOT of bread, haven't tried that though. I love blueberries. Is it yummy?? The weather here is getting bad.. snowing hard, windy, expecting close to a foot of snow. Good time to bake. I just might do that. Got a new bread book I need to break in.

Pugdawg, I like the blueberry the best. You can put anything in it that you want.
You start with a starter with yeast. Meaning you have to let it sit out for 10 days. On days 2-4 you stir, on the 5 th day you add a cup of each flour, sugar and milk. The next 6 thur 9 days you stir. On the 10th day you and a cup of each flour, sugar and milk. Then you take 3 cups of it out and give to friends. Or freeze it to bake a bread for later. It makes 4 mini-loaves. You can add choc. chips, nuts, fruit and any kind of pudding mix. |

my wife just got some for christmas from a co-worker, i think it was apple, but whatever it was it was freakin awsome. It ranks right up there with anything my grandma has ever made, and that's saying quite a bit. I don't have any recipes, but i'd like to get one

I've made it before, but I've never made any variations like that, I couldn't be much help. But you now got me in the mood to make some. LOL.. I will have to start some up again (All of my friends, with the exception of 2, have birthdays in January) and try some different 'twists' in it.
