If I didn't have animals.....
If I didn't have animals . . . .
I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety. My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated. All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair. When the doorbell rang, it wouldn't sound like a kennel. When the doorbell rang, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there. I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable. I would not have strange presents under my Christmas tree -- dog bones, stuffed animals ,toys, treats nor would I have to explain to people why I wrap them. I would have money ....and no guilt to go on a real vacation. I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grandkids thru college. The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE. My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers. My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere. My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash. I would no longer have to Spell the words B-A-L-L-, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, or T-R-E-A-T. I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside. I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much. I'd look forward to spring and the melting of snow instead of dreading mud season. I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many dogs/animals? " from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get. How empty my life would be. ~Author Unknown |

So true. I read it to my mom and she agreed. Here are the parts that ring truest for us:
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair. My mom is always complaining about dog hair being everywhere. I think we still have some of Sadie's dog hair lounging around the house in places. lol I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable. I just got done sitting on the couch with Rose, and my back is now stiff, as well as my neck. I couldn't resist not making her move, as she was using me as a pillow and was fast asleep! ![]() I would not have strange presents under my Christmas tree -- dog bones, stuffed animals ,toys, treats nor would I have to explain to people why I wrap them. LOL Each year all of our animals get a gift from "Santa". We wrap them up and they are under the tree with the rest of the gifts. My friends think I'm crazy. I would have money ....and no guilt to go on a real vacation. Hear, Hear! My mom complains about how much we spend on the dogs and my other animals (a monthy trip to the petstore just for the basics cost us about 100$), and I told my mom if we ever have the money to actually go on a vaction, it better be to a place that allows animals, because the dogs and/or the ferrets aren't staying behind! The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE. ROFLMAO. Brings back memories of when my little sister was a baby. I think some of the first couple of words she knew when it came to obeying was sit and stay. LOL My mom would put her into a chair, tell her, "Sit. Stay.", walk away to grab something, and then come back to a toddler still sitting still in the chair! And if someone is getting on my nerves, I have to watch myself to not say, "No. Go sit." My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers. Yet another thing my mom complains about. We have baby gates up EVERYWHERE. I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much. So true. I'd look forward to spring and the melting of snow instead of dreading mud season. LOL I was so happy when we got our first frost that froze the ground because I didn't have to worry about muddy dogs! I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many dogs/animals? " from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get. How empty my life would be. And then of course, I think the above applies to us all. |

Sooo true! I always try and move Mazie out of the way without waking her up when I go to bed, but usually fail and end up laying in odd positions.. she eventually moves, but after I've fallen asleep..
