The Alaskan Klee Klai (as it was brought up) was bred by BYB who found a very small HUsky (30Lbs or so) and bred her to the smallest male in the area and took the resulting smallest pups and bred them to other small males then line bred until you have the 3 sizes of the Alaskan Klee Klai today *shudders*
I don't support the miniturization (made up word hehe) of any breed because only BYB would do it and only for money so IMO in no way can it be done responsibly since breeding for money alone is irresponsible. Cheers! |

Question: Who supports mini's
I own a mini schnauzer...now he is all -around great dog.I just got the Giant recently. Remember people the MINIATURE PINCHER WAS AROUND MUCH BEFORE The standard doberman...people need to start doing their homework first. Actually many of the large breeds have components of smaller dogs in them. Just a thought!!!!!

He's my baby boy Sarge is blushing *blush*Ren, awhile back I was talking to this guy, and I had Sarge with me at the time, but I was telling him about the girls. He told me that after so many generations, they breed a wolf to a husky. Cause he said he had one, and she was very territorial, and I guess his nephew went to get some cereal or chips that fell on the floor, and the dog ran over and snapped at him. He said she ran off into the woods one day, and he never saw her since.. *sigh* Is this guy trying to act "I know everything about dogs", or is it true? I've heard of adding Bull mastiffs and Am. Bull dogs to pitties to achieve the larger sized pits. Size is what most "morons" (I say morons because these people are the ones who use the dogs for the wrong reasons) want to buy and are most popular. Such as "big heads" and "wide chest"... |

True all dogs are a mix from some where down the line but the point about how sickening it is in todays society is that there are sooooooo many BYB and puppy mills doing this. There is so many different breeds to choose from what is the point in creating a new one?

Last year we had considered another Boxer....we went to the lady's house.
The Mother dog was GORGEOUS....she kept bragging about the BIG puppies. She took us out to this 'eeewy' outdoor kennel full of dog crap, to show us the father....no way was he full breed Boxer. I am no pro or nothing. but he had to be Boxer x Bull Mastiff. It was in his bulk all the way down his torso and his eye set was not Boxer. Sorry to get off topic....but I felt sad and we left. |

Sarah, he's deffinately talking about crap...the only people who breed Hybrids (wolfXdog) are BYB because there sre dumb owners out there who think it's "cool" to have a "wild" animal even though it's actually illegal in most places. Actually cross breeding like that would just ruin the husky both physically and mentally. It just wouldn't be a Husky at all.
Cheers! |

Kinda thought so, I was being nice though and just nodding and agreeing. I don't know much about that anyhow so LOL Not worth arguing with those kinda people! I would be a little leary of owning a wolf hybrid. Just of the fact that they would have stronger drives than today's domesticated dog would? I think if you had the room and time to handle a dog such as that, it would be okay. But not to live in a city or something.
There's a guy in my neighborhood that owns a GSD/Wolf mix. He's tan in color, with black shaded for a sadle, and he's HUGE. I've never met him before, but my mom has talked to the guy. Thankfully in my area, huskies aren't very common. And I say so because BYB's don't get a hold of them. Very rarely do we ever see a husky up for sale, but if it is, the owners purchased them and gave them up because they were "too much to handle". I just hope down the road that my breed doesn't become a part of this chaos. I'm sure there are BYB's for these dogs, but luckily it's not as prominent as it is with GR, Labs, etc. Ren, are huskies common in your area? |

Sarah, like I said before, many people like having these dogs cause it's "cool" but it's actualy very dangerous. With their high prey drive and no fear of humans it's not uncommon for them to attack children since children have a habit of running around screaming and flailing their arms when playing, which attracts canines to pursue as it mimicks an injured animal trying to flee (not to mention it sparks their curiousity and they wanna catch it to see what it is). Actually it has been noted that many times wolf hybrid attacks are registered as a husky attack (along with malamutes and husky mixes, even GSD at times) and when they add up all the "husky attacks" it looks like a lot and the husky gets put on a dangerous breeds list. Hooray for the media and irresponsible owners >_>
Huskies are pretty common here in Canada but more common are various Husky cross because there are many people who don't understand the breed so they just let the husky outside and they run around town getting all the females pregnant then the next day the expand to get all the neighbouring farm dogs pregnant >_< Cheers! |

Boxerlover, Until someone more familiar with the breed comes along, I'll try to answer the best way I can figure. I can relate to them I think. I would rather be inside with the people that are my family or friends, but because I'm getting to that age, I get hot flashes sometimes something awful...I mean like I'm going to catch on fire....and I look out of my window at the snow piling up on the ground and fantasize about going outside and rolling around in it.

BoxerLover, Huskies are an odd dog LOL They do love to be with their family and get seperation anxiety faster than most other breeds however they prefer outside more than inside in general (especially if outside is cold). This is proven many wintery nights when I will be 1/2 asleep watching tv with OC and when 11:00 hits if he's not outside by then he'll go to the door and whine away (that really sad pathetic whine that sounds like someone's slowly killing him) until I open the door which is when he bolts outside and straight into the kennel and usually into the doghouse though he sometimes sleeps on the 2nd level.
Actually OC was supposed to be an indoor dog the first year of his life (since he was only a puppy and we wanted to make sure he could handle it) but when he turned 7months old one night he just wouldn't come inside no matter how much I tried to drag (literally) or coax him into the house. Heck I even took a chunk of raw steak that happened to be in the fridge and he just sat outside with the door open staring at it in a bowl inside. So finally I put him in the kennel and he's been an outdoor sleeper ever since. On stormy, or unusually cold, hot days/nights he'll sleep inside and whenever I'm home he's inside but other than that it's outside for him by his own preference LOL Cheers! |

Oh ya and a lot of times during the summer when it's 40C outside and everything is scorching, he still asks to go out just to chill in the shade or splash in the pool then dry on his picnic table even though it's a much cooler 20C inside LOL
Cheers! |

The Miniature Pinscher is it's own breed. It is not a Doberman Pinscher reduced. They are two entirely seperate breeds. They're as different as a Chihuahua is from a German Shepherd. (with the exception of one common ancestor....The Manchester Terrier) There is some speculation anyhow as to what all went into creating the Doberman we have today, different theories. There is no dog with the name, "Standard Doberman." There's a Doberman Pinscher (one size) and there's a Miniature Pinscher. In Germany and some other places, they've dropped the Pinscher part and just call them Dobermans. (Dobermann) Your Schnauzers...the three different sizes are also derived from different breeds, not one size reduced, as is the Poodle and some others. I don't recall which breeds were used in each of the sizes. There may be some commonality there between them, maybe enough that that is why they call them all Schnauzers with the size classification. Or maybe there's some other reason, like they just wanted to call them all Schnauzers. But please....don't mention the Miniature Pinscher and the Doberman Pinscher in the same breath. LOL. ![]() Or....did you just mean that the Miniature Pinscher was around before the Doberman Pinscher? Well....yes, it was. The Doberman is quite a recent breed. I have Chihuahuas and a Lab too. The Chihuahuas were around way longer than the Lab or Doberman. They may trace back to the Mayan period. |
