My girls like to be inside when it's hot or warmer out, but when those cold fronts come through, they will sit outside all day, or sleep out there during the night. I think any dog in general, is much happier with people than no interaction at all. My "friend" has a male husky. He comes over to my house ALL the time, and just started doing so after I baby sat for him. He obviously didn't get much attention at home because he loved it when he was here. But I really don't think he gets the attention he should. He escapes from their fenced back yard, and breaks through the invisible fence they have. When he's here, he doesn't try to escape and enjoys the attention.
Usually the girls have the option of going in and out of the house, but since they're in heat, they have to stay inside. Sometimes when it's 85-90º F outside, Denali will sit and sunbathe, and when it's time to come inside, I literally have to pick her up and carry her in because she's enjoying the sunshine. |

Hmmm...thanks everyone. That is interesting....sounds like the HUsky would really love to have his Master move outside with him! LOL.
Boxers are sensitive to warm and hot extremes.....so ours is pretty much always lounging around the house. I have to boot him out to get him to go potty. Icy Blue.....How do you handle Sarge? I bet he wants out with the other dogs? But he does have the flat Boxer coat... Carrie, I am always correcting my husband about the fact that the Miniture Pinscher and Doberman are not related! He doesnt believe me. The same is also true for Collies and Shetland Shepdogs, (sheltie) Fireworks....My Aunt and Uncle had 2 Sammies that they left in an outdoor kennel in their back yard. It always broke my heart! |

Boxerlover, Sarge does really well. He actually likes to sit outside also and sun bathe, but not when it's cold out. If it's nice and warm he sits outside all day, occasionally comming in to check on the house. Night time though he prefers to be inside, and now that he's getting old, he has to sleep on something with cushion. He doesn't sleep on the floor anymore... But he does really well. His hair is slightly longer though due to the GSD in him. It's not as thin as a normal boxers, but it's thin enough for him to get cold if it's chilly out!
