We had a nice day today, sun was shinning, but there was a nice breeze to keep us cool.
But we had a day like yours on Sat. What do your guys think of thunder? Princess hates it, but Duke and Taz dont mind it at all. |

It has been in the 80s all week and the weather channel calls for the same next week. I am so happy, this is the first warm week all year. I actually have a tiny bit of a tan!
Living in Seattle after getting through the wet winter I try and soak up as much sun as I can incase it doesn't last long. |

We got struck by lightening a couple of weeks ago...
Did you know that any 1 bolt is 5 times hotter than the sun. It was about 9:30pm and I was online, hubby and my son were watching a movie. The Zolt was amazing and frightening! Sparks shot out the outlets in the room. 2 of our televisions were fried, my computer was saved by a surge protector. Thank God our dogs were indoors when it happened....or no doubt they would both be dead because we have Invisible Fence and that got blown out too. We also had a 70' dog zip line that got melted and 2 metal kids toys that were outside got melted. It is a miracle that it did not actually hit our house. The dog zip line is most likely why, because lightening tends to hit the highest object and that cable was up in the tree to tree. From now on....the second I smell storm....dogs immediately inside! |

WOW, that was close huh? When I lived in California our house got hit by lightning. My brother and I were out on the front porch playing guitars and drinking coctails watching the storm. The hair on our arms and head stood on end and we dropped the guitars and ran inside. A second later it hit the side of the house and like you said all the outlets sparked and fried. The smell of ozone was strong! The lightning left a huge black scorch mark up the side of my house. I had a stucco house and I think that helped everything not catch on fire. I could actually see the dirt all spread out on the ground where it hit. My dogs were inside the house too and began to howl before the bolt hit. They could feel it coming too. scarey stuff huh?

Barrett, My 9 year old boy cried for over 30 minutes because he was so scared,
he thought our house was going to burn down. Thank God nothing caught fire! It wasnt until morning that we were able to really go outside and see any damage. The noise was the weirdest thing I have ever heard in my life! |

Sitting here thinking about lightning. I remember when I was young we lived on a hill in wyoming, had a HUGE satellite dish. I think it's serial number was like 4. One of the very first ones. Anyhow, I remember dad turning it on after a storm had passed.. but he turned it on a wee bit too soon. Bolt hit the dish, some hollow square metal parts were rounded by the heat. That bolt also hit a neighboring farms home, killed the tvs if i remember right.
One other time, I was looking out the window during a storm. I happened to be looking at a spot, right when a lightning bolt struck it. Probably oh i dont know.. 100 feet away? something like that. I couldnt see anything for a few frightening seconds lol. Scared the crud out of me. ![]() |
