I just got off the phone with the lady who owns a boarding kennel around the corner from me. Their busy season is starting, and they need someone part time. YAY I start Wed. night, and I can't wait.
I already have a full time job (that doesn't have anything to do with dogs, and I hate it). But if I'm going to open my own kennel someday, I need some experince, and here's my chance. |

They seem to have an answer to any dog question you could have! |

Congratulations! Sounds like a blast. I'm volunteering (too young for a full-time job) at a humane society and was, until we moved, helping out in a vet's office. (Which I miss terribly, the staff there was SO nice!) but I'm trying to spend more time walking the dogs at the humane soceity, so I'm able to work with a lot of animals a few times a week.

I just got home from my first night. I love it, it really doesn't seem like work. For the first time in my life I want to go to work! So many different dogs to play with. They are sooooo happy to see you, because they know you are there to feed them, walk them, and play....a dogs 3 favorite things to do.

That's just fantastic. I'm very happy for you that you have this in your life. I think the dogs will be happy too! Congratulations.
Rip, Your experience at the vet's office sounds interesting too. Wow, it's too bad that is over. It's so nice to work with people you like as well as the animals. How interesting. It's good of you to do what you're doing at the humane society. The dogs must really appreciate it. Your doggie picture is darling! Carrie |

The humane society is so full of great dogs and cats, but the VICIOUS politics of it all are enough to keep most people away.. It's also hard not to get wrapped up in the political problems and just be with the animals. |

Thanks for all the best wishes.
This job has really made me want to get my own kennel running. I started drawing up some floor plans last night, and started to work out a budget plan to save some money for the start up costs. Luckily, with the help of family, I can do all of the building and labor myself, so that will keep costs down. My boyfriend and I have started to look for a nice piece of land, to build a house on, and I would like to have the kennel on the same property. Boy, do I have a lot of work cut out for myself! Oh well, it will be worth it in the end. |
