OK here's a short story I wrote some time last year out of spite of being bored LOL

Will I Ever Love Again?
I always wondered if I’d ever get to love someone freely again. Anytime I’ve ever tried to do
so here I’ve gotten beaten down and whipped to no end. I remember the days when my little
girl would unknowingly fall asleep with her head on my back, or when my boy would practice
for his next little league game by hitting balls for me to go get. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to
feel a kind hand again. One that doesn’t bring pain, but instead is a joy to touch.
I’ve started to give up. It showed each passing day as I became more and more aggressive
as anyone neared my cage. I lashed out at tender flesh that came close enough to reach.
Even after battle when most of my blood had been spilt I sought revenge from those who have
made my life a living hell.
Many times in the past, I’ve ended the lives of others. Each death oddly gives me new
strength and vigor. I become more blood-thirsty for death to satisfy the evil hunger that the
humans have made inside me.
There came a night not long ago when there was lots of commotion and many humans fought.
I was captured and brought to this strange place. This place is very different from my original
home. There’s no blood soaked pit that I get thrown into, with the jaws of my opponent at the
ready. There’re no whips, knives, or clubs. But perhaps that is because I have already taught
them. The first time one of these clean-shaven people reached in to grab me I bit their hand
smiling gleefully at my success. I admit I was surprised when no harsh beatings followed my
act. Instead he just left quickly and never came back.
Next came a young woman. I growled and lashed out at the bars separating me from her, but
they were too strong and I couldn’t get through. She sat down about 2ft away from me with
her back turned. I tried to jump over, get under, go through, anything to get me out of this jail
so I could once again reenact my revenge.
Hours passed and I was still in my pen and she still sat there motionless. I finally gave up to
tired to care, and too exasperated to d anything more. That’s when she slowly turned around,
and started to come closer. I lifted my head ready to give her another warning but then she
shoved a piece of meat under the door for me. Suddenly I cared not of her presence and
began filling my empty stomach of the delicious substance. Oh how renewed I felt! And then
as quickly as the last one had come, she gave me another, and another! It was so delicious!
They too soon disappeared and my greed over came me as I wanted more! She offered me
another piece but this time she held on to it. My happiness vanished and I remembered many
beatings after trying to take something from a human. Cowering in the corner I prayed she
would drop it so I could grab it and run before she picked it up again.
Of course she never did and instead just sat there offering it to me. Finally hunger overcame
sense and I carefully crawled to her hand and took the meat then ran back to the corner to
gobble it up. I cringed waiting for the horrible blow, but it never came! Instead she was
offering me yet another piece! This time I didn’t hesitate and quickly grabbed the meat and
gobbled it up. For the next 3 pieces I never left the door but instead sat eagerly anticipating
the next piece of meat to come which they did one by one. After my belly was full she got up
and left. I watched her for a bit before curling up for a nap.
3 days passed and many people came by my door. The young woman came many times as
well to feed me. I soon allowed her to start petting me and she even came inside my pen with
me. I was always so happy to see her and she always was so happy to see me as well! A few
times she even led me out of the pen and into this big open field where she’d throw balls for
me. Once while she was in my pen with me she fell asleep with her head resting on my back.
On the fourth day she came again at her usual time. I paced back and forth in front of the
door with my tail wagging so fast it shook my whole body! But when she opened the door and
came in, she didn’t greet me with the same laughing smile as all the other days. Something
wasn’t right today…She clipped the lead on to my collar and slowly led me down the hall. Oh
how I love my walks! But when we started to approach the door leading outside, she pulled
me away! Confused I followed her to the end of the hall and into a small room. I was scared
but knew she’d keep me safe as I trusted her.
She lifted me on to a table and enfolded her arms around me. Soon my fur was soaked with
her tears as she cried to me that she was sorry. I liked her face to remind her that she didn’t
need to be sorry, for she had given me freedom from all my pain.
Another lady came in and without a word slid a needle into me leg. The cool liquid surged
through my body as an uncontrollable drowsiness overcame me. Before resting my weary
head I looked into the young woman’s tear-filled eyes and licked her hand. The thump of my
tail told the message clearly, thank-you for allowing me to love again!
