He's very cute. I hope you find his owners soon!

I'm a little bit concerned that you popped him right in with Baron. You mentioned in a post not too long ago that there's been parvo outbreaks in town and you don't know his vaccination status at all. I understand that sometimes you don't really have an option, but I think putting him in a separate crate or a bathroom or a bathtub or anywhere else would have been a good idea.

Our own adult dogs are fully vaccinated, healthy, and unstressed, putting them at a pretty minimal risk of infection, but fosters (especially younger ones!) may not have had all their vaccinations, they're often of questionable health and background, and they're often stressed as well. When you mix that with a random stray puppy, it's a recipe for potential disaster.

Ewarp- You voiced my concerns as well. Bringing a strange animal into your home, into your dog's kennel, could lead to problems with any number of viruses, etc.

You guys are very right, and I have to be honest that I did not think of that at all. Rookie mistake #1 I suppose. I will be more aware next time.

Fleas, ticks and what not I'm not so concerned about I would have noticed those as I did check him, but in the house I also use advantage which really does do the trick, and bedding is cleaned every 2 days.

As for viruses and what not... Both dogs do seem healthy and fine. I have not seen any more concerns with Baron nor the new pup. Baron has also had his second set of shots.

Thank you for mentioning that, I think I am going to make a confinement area just for that purpose .

GOOD NEWS
Pupppies owners called. Apperently they were out of town and had their 17 year old son watching the pets and Bandit (the pup) got out. Supposably the son is really irresponsible though because he didn't even try looking for Bandit. The owners were quiet upset when they got home and found out he was gone.

They got him from a friend and YES he is a Collie/Akita cross... crazy hey! So glad his owners found him, they herd the FOUND add over the radio on there way home and thought it sounded like their pup but they figured it wasn't because there son never said anything about him getting out. Sure enough it was! lol
So glad I held on to him, who knows what would of happened to him.

Yay, I was spot on for once!

I'm so glad to hear that he's back with his owners now. I feel really sorry for them, and for their son not to mention anything about the dog going missing is just irresponsible of him. Ah well, I bet they won't be trusting their son with their dog anymore.

That's fantastic news!!

Are they planning on keeping in touch with you knowing that you found their pup and kept him safe for them? Maybe they should ask you to dogsit instead of their son on their next trip!!

Great you found the owner, did they have any proof he belonged to them? Could they have just heard the add and pretended he was theirs?

Scary about the son, I hope they take better care of the puppy in the future.

I know about leaving your animals with an irresponsible seventeen year old boy. Our family was going to be gone for the day and we were going to be getting back really late. The only one who was going to be home was Jake, my older brother. I gave him instructions (let my ferrets out around seven, let the dogs out of the kennel and feed them about an hour later, feed Sadie two cups around six o'clock...) and then we left. We get home around eleven o'clock that night. When we pulled up we noticed that the dogs were really whining and crying. They normally only do that when they haven't been out of their kennel yet and/or not fed. I thought that was kinda strange, but didn't think to much of it. Then when we got inside, Sadie was REALLY bugging us. Like, following us around and begging for any kind of food that we had. So I asked:
"Jake, did you feed Sadie?"
"Oh, oops, I forgot."
"Did you feed the dogs?"
"Oh. No."
"Are my Ferrets out?"
"No, I forgot to let them out, too."

Jeez. Never again have I left my animals in his care.

Yes I made sure to find out they where the actual owners first. They called and I asked them to describe him first. I didn't give out any identifying marks over the radio, and the first thing they identified was the mask over his eyes and then his white socks on the front feet.

I hope she keeps in touch, the pup only lives about 12 houses away from me, so I am sure I will see him from time to time. Who knows maybe they will ask me to dog sit him next time they leave, I did tell them I do that kind of thing

Oh, I'm so glad he foundhis people, and I have the feeling they'll think twice about leaving the "boy" in charge again any time soon.
