Uninvited house guest
Shammie for the past few days has been barking at the basement door and runninig around like a chicken with his head cut off. Finally after a thorough search of the basement ( by my husband
..we have the worlds nastiest basement..dirt floor, big yucky things crawling around) he discovered a possum After all the commotion and alarm intruder alerting Shammie did...this is my BIG BRAVE BOY![]() "uh..yea.dude..If you think I am going down there with THAT thing running around you have LOST your mind. Your already there..you get it!" He was so funny..all riled up like a good guard dog and when it came down to it, big ol' mushy brain, fraidy cat ![]() |

Did your husband get it out of the basement? At least Shammie let you know it was there. Imagine if you would have gone down and the thing jumped out on you! YIKES!

LOL - I know exactly what you mean - River was going crazy out the front of our shed and turned out there was a blue tongue lizard behind there. The BF caught it and put it in a box and River refused to go anywhere near the box and just stood right back from it and every time the lizard poked its head out he'd growl at it and look at us like "make sure that thing stays in there!"

Ahh so THAT's what was so interesting in the basement!
I saw your photo uploaded to the gallery earlier this morning and made a comment on it. |

He's so silly! I am so glad he let us know something was going on. we were trying to get Shamous to go down, in the hopes he would scare the possum out or at least bark it unconscious..lol. We put a Have-a Heart trap down there, still no possum. Nasty little creatures, yuk. Our house is 150 yrs old and it has a stone foundation. There is one spot where a few stones have come out, so we think thats how it got under the house, as far as it getting into the basement, thats a mystery that is going to have to remain until spring. there must be a hole some where, that we cannot see inside or out, that must be above a vent or a beam or something in the basement.

LOL Good boy Shammie for letting mommy know there was an "intruder" in the house! That pictures too funny!
If mine had found it, it would be possum no more. LOL They've already found one before and nearly killed it. Eeesh, and stupid me I thought it was really dead (but I forgot, possums play dead! DUH!). So I put it in a trash bag and the next morning it chewed its way out. That's when I remembered. Hahaha But we saw it a few days later still around the house, although it was torn up pretty badly. |
