Now they know

A week ago some co-workers and I were talking about dog food and hot dogs. Of course the matter of what they and low quality dog food is made from came to surface and I started telling every one, and one co-worker in particular , every thing I knew. Then comes the talk about animal abuse and neglect and of course, breeding again(these are very hot topics for me). We started getting into Puppy Mills, and of course, no-one there knew a thing. I got the question " What is a Puppy Mill ?" and "Why are they so bad ?".. That got me a rambling, so I said I'd get them their information printed out when I ever got my ink.. I got a new printer instead lol, but I did get them their information.
Yesterday I printed it all off before I went to work(made the mistake of doing so before I ate breakfast) and showed some one to make sure it was clear and informative(included pictures). It did and I took it to work. Every one got a look at it when work calmed and their reaction "OMG, that is so sick", " I almost cried" reading that or "the pictures made me so mad". I told every one who asked about mills that they must look at that 7page report, or at least just look at the pictures. Every one agreed and NOW they know. One person already knows about the Pet Store and Mill link, so I knew she didn't have to, but she did and she got so upset. I also included the Fur Trade and the Pet Overpopulation Crisis and of course Animal Abuse. I'm glad I am able to get thru to 8 people and make them see and educate them, and pass on to them what I have learned and what I know about these subjects. I am leaving in a month, which I am sad about, every one I work with is a joy to be around. I've made 8 new friends, almost all of which have a dog, cat, or horse. So I think God for giving me the chance to make a difference in 8 peoples lives. For that, 8 more people know what is going on with Abuse, 8 more people will not support Pet Shops and Puppy Mills, now 8 more people know about our Pet Overpopulation problem and 8 more people now have the knowledge to educate the people they know. What I hope, is that they use this power of knowedge to educate others in the store and their out-side friends- what a difference that would be !

I know, I am happy I was able to make them see what *really* goes on. They said they "knew" but it came down to them saying they didn't know it was that bad. They were all shocked and I hope they do take the time to use what was given. It's not every day that I force this on to people, and I never do, but I've been there for over a year and they still didn't get what I was coming from when I talked about this. So I thought now a better time then never to show them, not tell them, but show them what I know. I left the report there for any roaming eyes, maybe word will spread ; after all this is a small town lol.
