Silliest things your dog has "spooked" over?
So, what are some of the silliest things your dogs has "spooked" over, or found to be SOOO cool.
Just today I was helping my mom re-apply for food stamps. I had to print out a section, and Lugar raises out of a dead sleep and starts barking at the printer. Hair raised, body stiff as a board, and that deep bark like "OMG MOM IT'S GOING TO EAT YOU!!" LOL I couldn't help but giggle, and told him "Enough, it's okay" and he quieted down shortly after. Then he sat and growled, even though it wasn't on anymore. Kelso has spooked over a rock, and a pile of dirt before. LOL Beetles are probably one of the coolest things to Kelso and Lugar. They love to play with beetles at night, and toss them around. Silly dogs. |

LOL - the funniest thing River ever spooked over was a statue of a rabbit that the BF's mum has in her backyard - he refused to go near the thing until I went over, looked at it, gave it a pat and walked away
I really do wonder what goes on in their heads sometimes!!! |

Mandi is scared of the sewers on the side of the road. I am not sure why though. If she is walking inbetween me and the sewer in the road, she is fine, but if I am inbetween her and the sewer she makes a HUGE circle around (as long as the leash goes). She is my little weirdo!

Lol!
When A.j. was about 8 months old, it was around the 4th of July, so some people had decorations on their mailboxes and houses. My freind and i decided to take our dogs on a walk, so we went down the street and back. On the way back, A.j. just noticed a mailbox with red, white, and blue ribbons all over it. He was all bristled up and stiff and whenever i touched him, he would jump. So i led him over to the mailbox slowly, not forcing him, and i accually had to stand there and pet the mailbox for A.j. to calm down. Then he peed on it... Sophie gets spooked about dolls. I have a Raggedy Ann doll that my grandma made for me when i was a baby. I prized this doll for a long time, up until a year or 2 ago (i still love it, though), and i had it sitting up on the top bunk of my bunk bed. Sophie was about 2 years old, she just trotted in, jumped up on my bed, and said good morning to me. Then she saw Raggedy Ann. She freaked out SO bad, she didnt care if i was petting the doll or anything. She ended up running out of the room and hiding. It was only a younger-aged problem, though, now she doesnt care what i have in my room. Also, Sophie is scared to DEATH of people stepping on plastic bags. I think i know the reason of this. Once, i had gotten something in the mail (i dont remember what it was) and it came with those big bubble-things to keep the item in place (not the little poppy bubbles). I didnt notice that i had dropped one until i stepped on it right in front of Sophie. She didnt seem very effected then, but it sure did make her scared. If you stomp on a plastic bag, she will literally attack you, i can never tell if its a playful attack or not. She is also afraid of balloons. There are a lot more things that Sophie is freaked out about, but the rest of them arent funny at all. I havent had Simetra long enough for anything like that to happen. All i know is that she looks like a cute, little, sweet dog, but then if a stranger gets close, she does this big, booming bark. She still is cute, little, and sweet, but shes also loud. ![]() I dont remember anything from Wiener. But, once, my mom was walking down the street towards our house, with a hood and big coat on. Wiener just FREAKED! He didnt charge like usual, though, he ran the other way, he was scared to death! He ended up running into a tree (not hard) because he was trying to look at my mom and run at the same time. All my dogs get spooked on random things, though. I dont remember who, but i remember someone getting freaked out about a stick. But, sometimes they are completely un-fearless. Sophie and A.j. both almost stepped on a snake at different times. I know they knew they were there, but they just didnt care. I think dogs can tell if they are poisonous or not, because both times it was just a gardener (spelling?) snake. Ok, sorry i typed so much! This is a great idea for a thread! ![]() |

It's not really silly, but Mazie bares teeth and growls at whoever is holding a gun - both toy and real. The growling then turns into non-stop barking until the gun is put down.
The silliest thing she's got spooked at was either a deck of cards being shuffled... or a lighter being lit. Oh, and then there was the remote-control car my nephew had that Mazie went absolutely berserk over. I've got that one on video somewhere - hilarious! ![]() |

Abby gets pretty freaked out when her lead touches her tail or the back of her legs. She leaps forwards and tucks her tail between her legs!
When we had our Christmas wreath hanging on our front door, both of the dogs would start barking and growling at it because they thought someone was at the door! ![]() Abby finds flies really entertaining (she loves to try and catch them in her mouth). She also likes playing with leaves! She will paw at the leaves, eat them a bit, then play with them again like they're alive ![]() |

OK, so I've gotten over the fact that Blitz is a big wimp. Here is a short list of things he's afraid of:
-Boxes -Garbage Cans -Occasionally people -Occasionally other dogs. Size, evidence of strength or aggression don't seem to be factors on this one. He is afraid of a cocker spaniel in our neighborhood, but showed no fear toward a snarling redbone coonhound farmdog pulling violently at his chain and snapping at him. -Cats. He'll chase them if they run, but if they stand their ground he will run. -Absolutely anything out of the ordinary that finds its way into our yard -Bicycles, scooters, anything similar Blaze is afraid of nothing |

Rusty is a "fraidy cat"
He'll be parading around with a toy in his mouth, wagging his tail, knock something off of the coffee table, which scares him so he barks and growls at the object. He's also afraid of plastic bags, pepsi boxes. He loves playing with grasshoppers.Baxter is afraid of strangers and the 6ft tall Lurch I set up for Halloween. He loves to catch bees then roll over on top of them. |

I found Fred growling and baring his teeth at his own foot. At first I thought it was because he might be hurting in or around the foot area...then I noticed he was lying with his treat between his front paws and seemed to be growling if his back leg got too close to his treat...dufus
He doesn't like drains either. Both my boys get spooked when they hear sirens no matter how far away the sound is drifting from... |
