Unhappy Trixie has to go to the kennell!

I know it's short notice, but Trixie has to be boarded tomorrow and thursday. My mom and dad, and Jeremy and I are going to a home dealer conference. So Shelby and Trixie both have to go because we don't trust anyone enough to watch them. Anyway, what kind of things should I be sure to tell them. I've already packed some toys, her work bed, food, her fish oil, I'm not going to worry about the cottage cheese. She'll be wearing her collar w/ tags and her leash when I drop her off. I faxed them her shot records yesterday. I think I've got everything covered. I wrote a list of all the commands she knows so they can practice with her if they want too. Also, Shelby will be in the same run with her, so that's good. It's a big place, I checked it out on Saturday. It's indoor/outdoor and didn't smell at all. IT's a big place too...they can hold 50 dogs and 20 cats at one time, but they said they've never been fully booked. They people seem very nice especially the younger girl that grooms there. Anyway...is there anything else i should pack, make sure I tell them, or check for before the big day tomorrow??? I'm a nervous wreck!!!

Just make sure you leave emergency contact numbers, and if you're going to be far away, you might leave the number of a friend who could come get the dogs if need be type thing.

Are both dogs UTD on shots and on flea/tick preventative and such? That would be my only other concern.

yes...they are updated. Shelby had her rabies and bordatella boosters last week and trixie was the week before. Plus all the usual dhpp shots too. And they got their frontline 2 weeks ago. Thhe boarding kennell actually won't board dogs unless they have proof of vaccs. which I think is great. It is a really nice facility. I checked out 2 other ones near by, and it was the nicest with the nicest staff. But it's 45 minutes away which stinks, but worth it.

I actually should give a friends number because we'll be 3 hours away. I feel stupid for not thinking of that!!! I'm gonna call right now with my neighbors number. They're watching Poe for me. But Poe is so low maintenance...Give her some food and snuggles and she's fine. Trixie...oh my, not so low maintenance...hehehe

lol, well you figure probably nothing will happen, but if you needed to have someone sign for an emergency surgery or something then you should probably have someone close by with written permission to designate vet care for your pups. I never did that for Missie back when I used to board her, but it would've been smart!

Also, seeing as how I work at a boarding kennel, it would be nice to tell them about your dogs' personality and what they like and don't like. We get so many dogs that come in and we haven't a CLUE about how they are going to act. You may want to tell them if your dogs are shy, if they don't like men with hats, if they're scared of thunder stroms, what they love to play or their favorite place to be scratched, and stuff like that. We also get some that have peculiar quirks (like, they bark like a manic when you take the leash off of them, or they shred blankets, or they always dump their food bowl) and those often come as a shock as well. lol
Basically just an overall of their temperment. I think everything else sounds fine!

Well I am happy to say that Trixie and Shelby were ANGELS at the kennel!! The staff was hoping I would forget about them and leave them there! They played and slept and ate and potty like doll babies! The one lady said they slept on top of eachother. she said it was adorable.I'm so proud!!

Aww! Good babies! I'm glad they did well. Sounds like you had a great experience with this kennel! Welcome home.
