My Lucky #7
|
My sister's driving test was today (she passed), our car was a mess, but no one realized until about 2 minutes before they had to leave. So, i said i would go get all the garbage out. Im glad i did!
When they got back, they had to go right back to the city to get some stuff. Mom was so happy with me about cleaning the car for her without her asking, that she invited me along. First, we went to Dairy Queen and pigged out on ice cream. Then we went to GoodWill, but i didnt find any pet stuff there. Then we went to the music store (for my brother, who is in a band), then to WalMart. Thats where mom spoiled me! She let me get a 50-pound bag of dog food (unfortunatly still Ol'Roy, im going to have to order some food), a rubber mit grooming brush, a coupler (to walk 2 dogs on 1 leash, im going to see how i like it), and a big bottle of pop. WalMart restocked all their pet stuff and they have so much new stuff (including food dishes, crates, treats, ect. but unfortunatly for us, not dog food or toys)! I wanted to get a toy, but all the toys they had were for small dogs, toys that my dogs would rip to shreds in 2 seconds. Then we stopped at Taco Bell and my brother and i got some tacos, then we came home to my very mad pups (for leaving them for so long). It doesnt sound that exciting, but it is for me because i usually have to work my butt off to get some new dog stuff. I think mom accually wanted to get the coupler, though. After we got it, she kept talking about using it to take Sophie and Wiener on a walk. I suggested she takes Simetra, though, because Sophie would probably yank Wiener around, but Simetra and Sophie have the same energy level. I will probably take the dogs on a walk tomarrow with my new coupler, so i will recharge my batteries and take some pictures of my dogs on a walk! ![]() |

Oh, yeah, and i forgot the best part! Between WalMart and Taco Bell, we stopped at Hastings. I usually get a dog book every time we go there, if i can find a good, afforable one (like one dog book was about $50, way un-affordable for our family). I instantly set out to find Cesar's Way (im a fan of Cesar Millan, and have wanted his book for weeks now). Unfortunatly, they didnt have it in stock. But, my brother suggested we go to Amazon.com and get it on there for cheaper. My mom said yes to that, so i did just that, right when we got home. I found Cesar's Way on Amazon, a hardback for only $15. If i got a hardback at Hastings it probably wouldve been at least twice that much. So, my mom bought one and its on its way! Im really excited for it to get here!
But, im excited to go to bed, too, and thats something i can do right now, so im going to do it! ![]() |

Sounds like you had a brilliant day - and good on your mum for "rewarding" you for doing something without asking - my mum would be beside herself with happiness if my brother ever did something like that without having to ask him (his almost 12 and a typical lazy boy!!)

It sounds like you had a fun day!
I'm looking forward to seeing your photos. It's really funny because today I was thinking about 'couplers' and I was wondering how easy it'd be to walk two dogs with one. I think I'd be having a hard time with both my dogs! Harley would want to speed walk and Abby would be puffing along behind! ![]() |

What a wonderful day! Be sure to tell your Mom how much you enjoyed it. (We like hearing things like that!LOL)
Let me know how the coupler works. I have been thinking about getting one for the schnauzer girls! |

I've used it a couple of times to walk River and Zeta (my sister's border collie) - you sort of have to learn to "steer" two dogs at once - and then they try and walk behind each other and the coupler gets caught around their butts so they freak out!! Definitely takes some getting used to IMO but once the dogs and you work it out I think they're great! |

Sounds like a fun day!!!
I''m not really a fan of couplers...If I need to administer a corrections its kinda hard to do on only one dog and if one dog surges ahead while the other is behaving and staying where it''s supposed to, it gets yanked ahead anyways and can confuse training. They''re a nice thought though. If I''m going into a store I sometime put a neckline on the dogs though just so that one isnt 6ft in front of me and the other 6ft behind me LOL Fellow customers dont really appreciate an entire aisle being taken up by dogs while they are trying to shop for hair products or make up or what not. |

Sounds like you have a VERY exciting day.
We used a coupler for the first time last night. It was astonishingly well. Both Goose and Rasta abused the privilege for the first 5 min or so but every time either of them pulled we simply stopped and they went into a sit. They got the picture and the rest of the hour went with out a hitch. |

You must be a very sweet and considerate kid. I wish my boys were that easily pleased when they were living at home.
Sounds like a very wonderful day for you. I do hope though that you would really consider maybe earning money doing jobs for people to buy a better dog food. What's going to happen in the long run if you don't is have extremely high vet. bills from a dog who will have a lot of medical problems. |

Thanks everyone!
I did have a great time!Im just about to leave on a walk. My camera batteries are charged and my leashes are in order. I think the coupler will work good with my 2 girls. A.j. likes to forge ahead, but both Sophie and Simetra like to stay next to or behind me and they have the same energy level, i never have to give either of them corrections because they are sensitive dogs and words do all the work. But A.j. is a different story... ![]() Today was great, too! My sister was so excited about being able to drive, she took me to Ephrata (a city about 30 minutes away) and we went shopping! And, i got spoiled agian.. Its all cheap stuff, but useful stuff, though, most of its from the dollar store. I got 2 John Saul (my favorite author) books, 2 bandanas each for the springers (A.j. got red polka dot and red pawprint bandanas and Simetra got pink camo and pink skull bandanas, i will put them on the springers for the walk pictures), they didnt have Sophie or Wiener's colors, another ball with a rope attached for training Agility because A.j. already almost broke the first one, an undercoat brush (i think), some rawhide bones (one for each dog), nail clippers (for me), a collapsable (spelling?) water dish for going on walks, 2 frisbees with rubber edges (hopefully good for training frisbee), and my sister got a weak leash that i probably wouldnt use so shes keeping it, that says "Jesus ruffs me" on it. Now i feel like a spoiled brat, lol! ![]() Sorry if this sounds like bragging, im just really happy right now! I dont know if my mom and sister knows this, but they are really helping me through a hard time (i will make sure they know it)! My best friend, and only RL friend, has been changing a lot, for the worse. She just isnt who she used to be and we havent been getting along. She is the one that had Simetra before me and didnt treat her right. I was willing to forgive that, but now shes being a jerk. Anyway, i dont care if she leaves my life, now, i have my family and, of course, my GP friends! Thanks everybody! |

![]() Haha, i just realized that i put 2 moms in my title. I think i meant to put "MY mom spoiled us"!I also forgot to add, i got 2 new dog figurines, too! They are non-heavy and cheap, but they are gorgeous! One is a German Shepherd and one is an ESS (accually i think its a Cocker Spaniel, but i like to pretend its an ESS, they are very closely related anyway)! ![]() |
