Dracs and Zeus, help stop intruders!

So this morning I take Dracs and Zeus out to go potty, we have an acre of land behind our house but have a neighbor that lives right beside our house. So I let them out to go potty and they are in the middle of the back yard all of a sudden they ran up to the fence next to our house facing the neighbors house (who happens to be out of town)..they start barking and growling like crazy. I thinking nothing of it call them a few times and they finally come in. Within a few minutes the police are knocking at my door, it appears someone had broken into the house next door and even though they had an alarm it wasn't one of those loud ones it was sort of a low pitched squeal. They asked me if I heard anything and I tell them about what the dogs were doing and they said that the break in had apparently just happened because of the notification from the alarm company and that the alarm didn't scare them off because they entered anyway but that they ran out of the front door probably afraid if they came back out the side the dogs would've got them..So basically the intruders broke in the house and ran straight out of the front door...lol

Funny thing is they have a giant Rott but since she's their baby she was gone with them...lol

Wooooo hooooo Dracs and Zeus! Good job! What lucky neighbors. I bet they'll be grateful when they come home to hear that your dogs were taking care of things. You must be very proud!

Doesnt it feel good to know that your dogs are up to the challenge of protecting you (or your neighbors, in this case) if they need to?

I always wonder what Kaida would do in a similar situation...
She's kind of-a wimp...

She's probably jump up on and bark and wiggle at an intruder, but only in a "HI HI HI ARE YOU HERE TO SEE ME, YOU MUST BE HI HI HI!" kinda way.

Good dogs!!! That is amazing.

Blackie would protect us (or our property) if it ever came down to that (the people have got to be stupid trying to rob our house because not only do we have the dogs, we have two police officers living in front of us), but Rose would probably just stay 15ft away from them and bark. She is very wary of strangers (even the Gas man who is a freind of ours and gives the dogs treats. She won't eat the treats.) and just stands a way off from them barking. Blackie loves everybody, but if it came down to defending our property, I wouldn't doubt him.

Luckily I can tell the difference in Sarge's bark. He has a specific bark if he sees a person, than if he's just barking at evil air spirits LOL

I always check to see what he's barking at anyways, especially if its that certain bark.

I'm sure you'll always check from now on too huh? Especially if they do as they did before.
I remember a friend of mine telling us about her dog was barking out the window and woudln't stop. They yelled at her to go lay down and she did, well they went to go look, just in case and they saw a man running down the road with a baseball bat. Apparently the guy was going for their car, but heard their dog.

What good boys!

Dark...that is cool! My Boxer rarely barks....so if he does, we always go check it out.

I usually check it out too but for some reason I thought that it was probably just someone walking down the sidewalk that they were seeing...but I was wrong.
