Woman Accused Of Drowning Hundreds Of Animals

Humane Society agents on Wednesday were searching for a woman wanted for animal cruelty.

Prosecutors said Maureen McLaughlin admitted killing 650 puppies, dogs, and cats by drowning them in a trash can.

McLaughlin recently told authorities she would fill a trash can with water, put the animals in a crate, and place the crate in the water.

"She would keep fur from each animal that she killed and write the name and date and descriptions of the animals," said assistant city prosecutor Bill Hedrick.

Many of the animals MacLaughlin drowned since July 2002 were received through people thinking that she was a rescue.

That is just sick!!

It's so hard to imagine that someone would inflict that sort of torture on animals. It's horrifying!

As far as I'm concerned there is nothing worse than someone that will abuse something that is defenseless and trusting (animal or child), I wish the penalities were the same. There is an 80% link that someone who abuses/kills an animal will eventually go on to abusing/killing a child/person.

Oh my gosh, that is so horrible. I just can't believe she could do that over and over and over again!!!!!! This is unbelieveable

Oh gosh!

I couldn't stop shaking my head as I watched that video. The things that some people do to animals is just heart-breaking. The poor souls that have suffered in the hands of animal abusers....

Wow. To put it extreamly lightly, some people are just a bit touched in the head. I would question that sanity of someone who would do that to an animal.

BLAH! Both of those were just heart wrenching! Sick cruel people! They will pay for their penance someday. I hope they are found soon though!

That is one sick witch who needs to be locked up indefinitely and once out given an ankle bracelet and monitored for the rest of her life.

The other thing is something else all together, IMO. They need to investigate it. I'm guessing a cult thing is going on.

I agree w/wehkah though. They will reap these ungodly acts.

I don't even know what to say to either of those, except that people need to take this stuff more seriously because, as others have said, it often leads to cruelty towards humans. Not that the animals are insignificant, but it's such a tell tale sign that it shouldn't be shrugged off like so many of these cases are.
