My Lucky #7

Ive never had one, since ive always owned big dogs (besides Wiener, but he doesnt go in the car much). I have been planning on getting some doggy seatbelts, though. I was planning on buying one online, but WalMart just restocked and got a whole bunch of them, thankfully for me.

Linnie, I've seen them at some pet product trade shows I've attended. They work on much the same principle as a larger dog's seatbelt but also work as a booster seat of sorts.
I don't have a problem with dog seat belts and car seats, I use them myself on occassion, but I always caution people they must be in the back seat and away from any airbags if at all possible. |

A word of caution... don't use the kind of harness ON that dog. It could kill the dog. I religiously use my Roadies. I feel they are much safer than crates, and I would never leave the dogs loose.
Roadies and Champion CARE system car harnesses are the only one's tested to human safety regulations. The buckles can and do break open on the "other" models. Choose wisely. |

I had two of these seats, just sold one and have one left. I got thru the GW Little catalog. The straps were way too wide, the buckle is a heavy metal 2'x3 1/2'. The dogs kept hanging themselves by jumping out. I have the harnesses that protect the sternum. I'll give you the site to a better car seat, and the harnesses.

That's the carseat Missie has. It's not perfect, but it's easy to use, and just clips onto the dog's harness (so you can use any type of harness with it). I feel comfortable with it because the sides are soft, so the dog would be restrained by harness and the soft front of the carseat if propelled forward or to the side. The only downside is the two straps that go to the front can entangle the dog (but both of mine learned quickly how to sit nicely in their seats, so I don't have to worry about that). I have a different one (Missie's old one) that Ollie uses, but I don't like that one at all. |

^^Thats the kind Mandi has too! We don't use it often...or at all really(we need the seats in my care
), but when we did use it she liked it. If we left her out, she ended up sitting in it anywayz. ![]() |

Some of the seat belts aren't very good for dog's Emma's size. I had one that almost hung her in the van.
We have bucket seats. So I don't care for them. If anyone knows of a good one for a Cocker Spaniel. That I could use in a van with bucket seats let me know. I just feel that best thing is in a crate. Not that I use on for Emma. I should. ![]() |

I have a car booster seat for my terrier Pooch but I don't use it much. He does really like it as a dog bed in the house though!
I got it for a good price on ebay. It's pretty nice and it folds out into a dog bed for home use. It's the largest one I could find, Pooch is 23 lbs so he would not fit the smaller ones. It's called "Global Stowaway 3-in-1 Car Seat Car Seat" it also has a small suitcase which attaches to the bottom and provides more height for the seat. When I use it I always use Pooch's CARE Champion seatbelt hooked up to the car seatbelt with the booster seat. Here is a link with photos: http://www.thepamperedpetmart.com/Me.../PROD/Stowaway |

thanks for all the input and other suggestions
![]() They seem a little risky so I think I will give them a miss. The girls are harnessed in when we travel and I put a cushion under them to make them a little higher. They will have to settle for that |
