Oh Boy

I live in a small town and apprantely everyone knows everyone. There is a bar/resturant that i like to go alot, and just about everytime i go there i see a german shepard tied up to a riding lawn mower. At first i was thinking " why on earth would anyone do that?!" i kept complaining about it. But there wasn't anything i could really do because obviously the dog looks very well cared for and seem to be VERY even tempered, showed no signs of aggression, just very alert.

Apparently my husband meantioned it at work and there is a guy there that knows the person who owns the riding lawn mower and the dog, it belongs to a guy who has polio (Sp?) and uses that sheperd to help him out, and to have the dog gaurd his riding lawn mower. Why he drives that thing around with the sheperd, i have no idea. But i decided to let that go, figuring it's one of those dogs who work to help the disabled.

WELL!, today it rained, rained HARD, i went to this bar/resturant again, and yup there's that poor dog laying in the rain, he did not look uncomfortable though just laying there waiting paitently for his owner to return ( **** those dogs are loyal! LOL), he was very alert when i walked by, it seems like he was used to being in the rain like that , but still, i don't like seeing dogs just sitting there in the rain with no shelter.

I have no clue what the owner looks like neither does hubby. So i told hubby when he goes to work on Monday to find that guy that knows this guy and tell him I said next time if i see his dog laying in the rain like that im going to go over and take the dog away! ( i know that's stealing, and illegal). I'd probably just say it wasn't very cool of him to just leave his dog like that. From what i understand he does love his dog, but probably not enough to give him shelter.

hmmm, that was cruel to leave him laying in the rain like that. He is going to have to think up a better solution if he is going to go to the bar every day, like bring a dog house there, or ask if he can come inside or somthing.

In the meantime maybe you can call animal control or the police and see if there are any laws about leaving dogs exposed to the elements.

How sad. I'd at least talk to the guy who owns that dog and let him know if you find it out in any kind of bad weather that you will report it.
