Yikes I have a recalled can of food!!

I knew there was a reason I kept forgetting to open the cans of wet food I bought to mix in my dogs food for a treat. Might of saved their lifes that I kept forgetting about them. How scary is that???

I only have two cans with the recalled product numbers but I think I am just going to throw them all out and go buy some new ones to be on the safe side.

Wow, that's really lucky! I think it's a safe idea to get rid of them. I don't even know if I'd risk buying canned food from the same manufacturers. It's better to be on the safe side.

Someone is looking out for you that's for sure!

I agree with Swiftwind - throw them all out and get food from another manufacturer.

I agree. I'm not going to buy any wet food from the list of recalls (which is almost everything out there). Like you said, better safe then sorry.

Yeah I would probably just stay away from those brands to be on the safe side, myself...
Actually I am really glad now that I avoid dog food with wheat in it now that I hear it was contaminated wheat! I looked through my cans and none are of any of those brands, none contain wheat. Whew... Except one I bought to entice a stray dog I am trying to catch and that was not on the list either thankfully...
I usually buy Merrick, Evanger's, and Spot's Stew if anyone is looking for some good canned brands to use, those are good... I don't use canned every day but I mix it into my dogs' meals once in a while.

We had to go through the stacks and stacks of donated food at the shelter today. We wound up tossing over 100 cans of food.

On the scary side of things, a good friend of mine manages a feral cat colony and feeds a few cats at her back door. She traps, sterilizes, and then releases and continues to maintain the colony and her strays.

She feels horrendous- she's fed at least a handful of cans of the recalled food before the recall was issued. She threw out everything since then and is carefully monitoring her colony now.

What's really scary is that one of her frequent diners at her back porch was a neighborhood indoor/outdoor cat. This cat has a collar and is well-fed and well-loved, but enjoys visiting and getting a snack. She's been allowing someone's pet to eat this food too. That's another good reason to keep your cat indoors!

So far, she thinks everyone is okay. She's sent two notes home on the cat's collar asking it's owners to please call, but they haven't yet.

after this whole thing started i stopped feeding wet canned food even if i feed high quality can foods, but you just never know. I am planning on just making home made meals for the dog(s) i am still going to give em their kibbles though, just no more wet.

How scary it must have been for you though, it looks like these companies will have to build back their reputation. There is going to be alot of changes.

if there is ever a recall on dry foods including the high quality dry foods i may just as well give up and go raw OY!.
