Meet Princess Chloe:)
Finally got her, it's been a stormy trip though, her AKC name is bring on the rain, and when we were heading back to MN it started pouring down rain and we had thunderstorms, i can see why the name fits! she brought on the rain
. but I renamed her and her new name is Chloe she seems to pick up that name or at least recognized it.She is 5 years old She is a total sweet heart. Today when i did little basic training with her it seems like she must've been hit in some point of her life because she cowards when i say "come" and she was afraid to come in the bed room. But with little work she started to feel comfortable coming into the room whatever it was it must not have been TOO bad because she now feels comfortable coming the bedroom when i call her. She still cowards though when i say "come". Oh and she has black nails! how do you cut black nails?.She has been bounced around from home to home and apparently was bred twice and returned to her owner because they wanted puppies . So she had bit of a tough life, now she'll be able to relax and enjoy the rest of her years. Here's several pics, casey seems to be ok with her, he'll be around her but still keeps a distance from her. Hopefully he'll come around, overall she's a total sweet heart these pics were from last night![]() ![]() Both totally crashed on the couch ![]() ![]() Im hoping the weather gets better so i can take pics of her outside. But these will do for now ![]() |

they look like they settled quickly
your lucky that they weren't like max and niko when i first brought niko home they hated each other lol you wouldn't know that now though she's so pretty! to cut black nails you have to lift her paw and look under the nail in order to see the quick |

She is beautiful - and lucky you having not one but two dark coloured shelties - I'm jealous!!!
With the black nails I'm a chicken so I say get a vet or groomer to do it for you ![]() |

She's stunning! What a beautiful pair they are. How lucky you really are and I'm sure she will be totally relaxed and happy when she realizes she isn't going anywhere else. Poor little girl needs a stable family after what she has been thru.

Yay! Welcome to your new home Chloe!
She's gorgeous. Looks like she's fitting in well with Casey. I agree with Rivsky...go for a vet or groomer to cut the nails, I'm too chicken to try to cut them too. Cass. |

Aww! What a pretty girl!
Just as roman said, if you lift her paw to look under her nails, you can see the quick. OR, you can buy a dremel tool. They work so much better on darker nails. Or if you don't feel as comfortable doing that, do as Rivsky said and have a vet or groomer do them ![]() Congrats on her finally being home! She's so pretty! |

Congrats!!! She seems to fit in well!!
With the black nails, I have heard to use a flashlight to see the quick?? If you shine the flashlight through the nail, you should be able to tell where the quick ends. A little awkward, but I think it works (of course mandi has white nails so I have never tried it ) |

we use a dremel on Bobbie's nails (black nails on the front paws) and it works like a charm. But it took about a week to get her used to the sound and we didn't start using it the first time she heard it. One nail one night, two nails, etc.

Congratulations on your addition! It sounds like she's coming around, nicely...and I'm sure with time, she'll feel even more comfortable. It will just take time for her to know that she is safe and loved.
As for the black nails, one of my Cardigans has a few black nails, so I'm just extra careful when I'm using the dremel. I will never go back to cutting the nails again...I love my dremel! ![]() |

I love how her face is almost all black where most have more white. Gorgeous.
I'm sure with time Casey will warm up. Kyrel hated Kaede for about two weeks when I brought him home (he ignored him, took toys away from him, got mad at him if he came near him when he was sleeping). Now they are the best of friends. Sleep together, play together, share everything except food. Can't wait to see more pictures of Chloe and hear more about her. |
