On the cell phone thing.. I don't have one YET, I'll be getting one when I get my liscens (Feb 22!) so if anything happens I can always call. But one thing.. I do not think I will ever drive and talk. My sister did that and she rear ended some guy... totaled both cars. But I think everyone should have a cell phone for safety.

I can't live with out my cell phone. My husband is a pilot and is in a different state every two hours. I need the free long distance and one number to call him at. I have a hard enough time remembering what time zone he is in let alone try and write down the hundreds of numbers where I could try and reach him. When he flies out of the country I can't talk to him until he gets to his hotel and then it's over a dollar a minute. We barely get enough time to smoochie smoochie on the phone, say I miss you and I love you about 10 times and then hang up. We don't even have a home phone/ land line. Our computer is on cable and then we have our cell phones. If I can't find my cell phone I have to e-mail myself so it will ring. LOL We have been married for 9 years and I swear the cell phone saves our marriage. With him being gone 4-5 days a week, we talk 5 times a day and get to say good night and tuck each other in long distance. Now that we have Lucy, we work opposite schedules so one of us is home with her every day. I haven't had a day off with my husband in a month and a half and when he is home I work until two in the morning and he is asleep when I get home. I only get to see him for 4 hours before I go back to work in the morning. I can't live without my cell phone. In fact I doubt I remember how to use a pay phone....what do they cost now? are they still 35 cents? LOL

On the cell/mobile phone thing. I always hated them too, but I need one when I'm out because using public phones has stuffed up on me so many times I couldn't bear it. But, I only use it for emergencies and SMSing. I love my little mobile though.
It's definately a fashion accessory. Cass. |

DH has the digital at the airport today. I have 3 desks. They are all a mess. I will get the camera tonight and show you the dog desk and the jewelry desk. The airport desk will have to wait until I go out there.
I think a clean desk is the sign of a sick mind, you guys! Rips, is that a LAVA LAMP? Kit |

Yes Flyndog it is a lava lamp. LOL. Doesn't go with my room much, but I like to stare at it when I'm writing.
A clean desk is the sign of a neat freak, I dunno about a sick mind. Personally I can never keep mine clean, I spend hours a day on it doing schoolwork, with papers in front of me, folders, pens, pencils and books.. Not to mention CDs, DVDs, floppy disks, makeup, hair ties, combs, scissors, dog nail trimmers, dog clippers, dog collars.. I like to keep my room neat, but I have a hard time with my desk. |

I love these kinds of threads! It helps show everyone's different personalities.
Our family also only uses cell phones. We don't have a home phone either, our internet is broadband through our cable company. With the cell phones we don't have to worry about not being able to reach each other. Ok, here are two of our desk...the first one I tried to get the dogs to sit in front of the desk, but I didn't really have enough light. So the other one looks better because I opened the window blinds . Oh, and ignore the boxes on the one side of the desk...they are full of my husbands paperwork and catalogues for his project car he's been working on forever. ![]() ![]() |

LOLI'll get a picture of mine up soon. I have to upload pics from my time at the fair, so it will be soon! I only like cell phones for the use of an emergency or just having a way to get into contact. I don't like having them to chat on 24/7. My mom and I particualarly hate it when someone uses it while driving as well as when they come into my mom's work, and they're blabbing away on the cell phone. (Works at Boston Market) So she tells them "Sir/Mam' Let me know when you are through with your converstation on the phone. Right now, this person is ready to order, so when you're done, I'll be happy to serve you." and I don't think a lot of people realize how much their cell phone interferes with their driving. |

Oh yeah! We have "direct connect"...which my husband uses more than I do...he gets to talk to his brother in New York(state) and his best friend who moved to California without having horrendous phone bills. I don't like talking on the phone in the car either...so if someone calls I usually say "let me call you back".
I especially like having a cell phone for the car because I have been stranded in a broke down car before, with my children, and have had to depend on the kindness of strangers for the use of their phones. I do not feel comfortable walking up to someone's house and asking to use the phone. ![]() |
