Question on my mind for 3 years

We've had my 'puppy' for 3 years now, we got her from the local shelter. After doing some reading I have become very confused one what her possible breed is, I know she has lab in her but thats it. Its not a very good picture of her as it was taken on a low quality digtal camera. She stands roughly 25ish" from top of head to floor, weighs in at roughly 53lbs shes slender though. The guy down the street had two pure labs and the female was just slightly bigger than she is. Any ideas? I doubt her being a pure breed since she was from the pound but hey I love her just the same

Perhaps lab and german shepherd? It's so hard to say... but believe me, just because a dog is at the pound, doesn't mean it's not purebred... Just had to pipe up with that. I see many purebred labs and other breeds at the local shelter here. One of my own pugs was at the shelter, and he's definitely "all pug".
Your dog is lovely though.. something about a glossy shiny healthy black dog... pretty pretty.

ChiChi: She is getting a bit of what appears to be prehaps a red or light brown fur on her near the back at first I thought nothing of it, but now she has a bit more. This weekend I will try to burrow my girlfriends camera to get some good pictures

Shes really hyper active if you ask me, she runs me ragged an I run 5 miles a night crazy dog!

Edit: Forgot to mention she has a black spotted tongue mom swears shes chow I disagree

Ah, what a cutie. Shepherd/Lab? Does she have a slender snout? Oh and yes you CAN find purebreds at shelters, especially Labs.

Shes very pretty. I agree with sheltie. You don't only find black tongues in the chow breed. Goldens have been know to have them along with some other breeds.
And yes it is common to find a pure bred dog at the shelter. Labs, Goldens, Dachshunds among other breeds.

I personally see no chow in her.. She's not built like one, and all dogs can have black spots on their tongues, chow or not.

You say she's extremely high energy, I'm leaning towards thinking she's a Border Collie mix.. Either mixed with lab or shepherd (or maybe both?)

She has a pretty slender head and snout with a tail that curves upwards I will try to get a better picture of her. Umm she has floppy ears the slender build (almost looks greyhoundish with the build) shes got a small head for a lab(if thats what she is) our other dogs head is much wider and stouter where as her is more of a longer triangle with a more narrow skull

When I saw the neck and saw that you said she had a slender build, I immediately thought Lab/Greyhound or Lab/Whippet. I'm leaning towards Lab/Whippet because Whippets tend to be more popular, and Greyhounds fall between 60-80 pounds.

Can you get a side picture of her standing? That would help. Also, get a few head piccies and it'd be GREYT if you could measure her neck at the base and an inch behind the ears.

If she has a slender build and a half curly tail, maybe part Husky? That would explain her activity level too......although I agree with Greenleaf. When I first saw her, I thought of a Lab/Whippet cross or a Lab/Dobe cross. (A cross with any dog that has a fine, slender build.)

I think it's funny that people see their own dogs in the mix!
Looks like American Black Dog. Definately some retriever (Golden?) in there, but which one is hard to tell.
