They're here...
Well, Cheech and Chung are here. The two chi's --
Let me just say I am IN LOVE with my big ones LOL I wouldn't be able to do little dogs. Just not my style. ANYWAYS, the lady was very upset about having to part with them. She said they have been thinking this over for an entire year, and finally decided it was best that Cheech and Chung would adjust the best. She has arthritis in her back, hips, knees, and it keeps spreading. Chung is pretty 'backward'. He will walk to you if you call him, but the minute you move he hauls butt the other way. When you pick him up, he sreams, bites, and poops all over himself. Poor guy... I'm sure being thrown into a house with big dogs and strange people has to be scary. Cheech on the other hand is VERY outgoing. Very happy and walks around the house like it's nothing. But, he doesn't like when the other dogs get near him, so the minute they look at him or what-not, he bares his teeth. So, we've been correcting with him an "AH!! NO!". Aggression is not tolerated in this house. But he's doing better than Chung is. They both eat very well. I thought they'd have a problem eating. The owner said that Cheech will eat until he explodes, so she has to watch how much food she gives him. However, my mom thinks he's too skinny, and I agree. For a chi he needs a tad more weight. So we're increasing his food until he puts some weight on. Cheech is VERY protective of his crate. Whoever comes up he starts biting his blanket, attacking the sides... but the minute you open it up and put your hand in to pull him out he's fine. lol He just makes such a racket. But, he's not nice to the dogs about it so we have to put them up while they're out during the day. If they do go in them, they're in my dad's room (my poor dad lol) since it's darker and quiet, with a blanket thrown over the top. They are enjoying their first marrow bone right now to help clean their teeth. She said she normally had yearly dentals done for all of her dogs, but since they're so small and older she doesn't want them under anesthesia unless it's absolutely necessary. She stopped those last year. Their breath was horrid and teeth are brown. So hopefully the bones will clean up their teeth some. They're the cut pieces though... not the huge ones. So, that's all for now. I'll try to get some pics this weekend. I've got prom tonight so I'm going to be very busy for the rest of the day, and I have to go to work tomorrow. I'll update you on their progress and some pictures next week. |

Have fun at your Prom and I hope the two Chis find homes soon! ![]() |

You do have your hands full.
I agree with Swift. All little dogs aren't like that. I've never had one that didn't act right when picked up. Your two must have experienced a lot of negativity. |

Youi are doing a great thing!! I agree that not all little ones are like Cheech & Chung...they must have a lot of "stuff" to overcome.
The poor little guy being so stressed at just being picked up. God Bless You! |

Thanks all.
Oh, it's definetly not just because of these guys personalities. Just having the little ones around in general. I'm just not a little dog person. I love all dogs, but I don't think I'd own one unless they really caught my attention (Cuca was a great little dog). I'm so used to walking around and being able to see the others, while these guys get right underneath your feet and accidentally get stepped on. I think Chung is that way about being picked up because he's just so very scared. He's from a BYB because she said "Chung is more of a teacup than Cheech is", so if you guys have seen what a very 'babied', nervous tempered chihuahua is like- - that's Chung. I also had a natural reaction to his 'scream'. It was auto and I didn't think anything of it until after. Being that it was after 10pm and outside when he started screaming as if I had him by the tail, I calmly but shockingly said "Stooop, Chung! Calm down!". Which I know I should have just ignored him when that happened. But it scared the phewy out of me! lol Cheech is pretty well adjusted now. Chung is getting a little more comfortable. He's been hangin' out with my mom alot now, which is good. Cheech's only problem is being territorial. He likes to lay in the kitchen, which is openly connected to our living room. Lugar will be getting up, or walking, but away from the kitchen entry and Cheech just flies up and attack him. Poor Lugar yips and runs away lol But, it's something we're working with. He's getting better, and really only does it when we are all asleep. So I just end up getting his crate and putting him in there to settle down. Eh, well -- my mom's like "I don't know if I want to give these guys up" AAAHHH LOL Man - we really need to hit the lotto and move somewhere so we can have more room. If my mom keeps these guys -- NO MORE fosters! Well, atleast 'inhouse' fosters. I do miss having Joe-Joe around though. Even though he was a cat food eater. lol |

I spend time with smaller ones at work all the time. Most of the ones there are awesome little dogs, but they obviously took the time to socialize them correctly. These guys I don't think have, and have been allowed to do things big dogs normally wouldn't be (Cass - I keep the moto "If you wouldn't let a big dog do it, don't let a chihuahua do it" in my head all the time now lol).
