This was posted on a web site I go on.
This makes me sick how people can just sell a dog for just about any reason. There is no way I could ever do that to Emma. She is a part of my family. I'd love to give this person a good talking too. But maybe the dog would be better off in the long run finding a better home. I feel sorry for any kid born into this family. Geez some people make me sick. Selling my Husky, time to go baby comes first. The Husky is a purebred Siberian comes with all his food and treats and toys, as well as his harness and leash. I will provide his license and dog tags with him and his papers. Asking 200 this is the lowest that I can go. Let me know folks |

That makes me mad too. Granted people who treat their dogs like children will alter their relationships but that is sooooo unfair to the dog to just get rid of them like that.
How do they know the dog will be a problem? Why don't they take the dog around some babies to see? |

Maybe they're doing the right thing. It strikes me that people who are happy to do this aren't the type of people who would take the time to properly socialise and train a dog. I'm sure there are exceptions but that's just the way I see it. If this is the case, it is perhaps a good idea to rehome it.
However, I agree that his is a very sad thing to do. I could never do this to any dog I owned unless there was some exceptional reason and no other alternative. ![]() Cass. |

Although I cant stand people who do this .. I cant help but feel the dog will be better off.
Lets hope they dont get rid of the baby when the next one comes along. Such shallow people should never own pets or children |

It makes me sad knowing that there are people that would give their pets up in an instant. I would do anything to save my pets!
But, I agree with others... if this is the mum-to-be's attitude, then the dog is much better off being in a home that actually wants him around. I remember when my (evil) step-mum was pregnant she didn't want the cat around her because she said she'd get sick from it (and I'm pretty sure she wanted to sell it). I thought that was very odd. |

If they know they won't have time for the dog because of the baby, maybe they're doing the right thing. But if it's because they think the dog won't be good with kids, that's not fair to the dog. If they know the dog isn't good with kids, then the dog is better off in a different home. But if the dog isn't good with kids, it's their fault for not socializing him. I can't stand people who will give their pet, which is like a child, away in a second. I agree that if this is the owner's attitude toward her pet, then the dog's better off with a caring owner.

Although I don't give a flea's butt about "celebrities", I did appreciate a comment Tory Spelling made. She said that people told her that her attitude toward her pug would change when she had a baby. She said that she still considered her dog to be her baby.

I don't think there could be any circumstance that would bring me to sell Trixie (since she's MY dog...shelby is technically mom's and she'd NEVEr get rid of her either). Right now I'm looking for places in FL. Trixie has made it difficult to find a place...hehehe...I INSIST on first floor, dog friendly of course, fenced in yard, and decent neighbor hood...it kind of narrows my options, but its well worth it. Also, I know that i've socialized Trixie very well with people/dogs of all ages, so if I ever had a kid, i know she'd be fine with it. and i'm sure that how everyone on this forum feels too. grrrrrrr...some people are just silly

OMG tell em about it there are some many people in Minnesots and Wisconsin that go out and get Huskies only to realize their a handful when they grow up. I'm sorry but dogs like Huskies Malamutes ect don't f'ing belong in a apartment\condo in the city. |

With an eight month pregnant belly, I'm starting to draw comments about how I'm going to manage the dogs with a new baby.
Luckily anyone who knows me knows I would never ditch my dogs.I've been seriously considering teaching a "bringing home baby" dog class to help pregnant couples teach their dogs the skills they need to have to make life with a wee one and dogs easier- sadly there is nothing like that offered here. I seriously can't imagine being a stay at home mom with no dogs to keep me sane. |

Maybe then people would think before they make such a drastic decision. |
