Raina is!!!!
Whether or not she is going to stay here is another question, but my dad hasn't said to take her back in yet...and he as pet her and called her a cute fuzzy puppy! I would have thought that if he had wanted her gone by now that he would have told me, as my mom just left to go into town to pick up the kids from school (the oportune time to take her back home). We aren't out of the woods yet, but I think I see daylight! She has been absolutely wonderful. We can even let her outside without a leash and she sticks right by us. I've been outside with her all day and she's been sleeping underneath our shade tree while I read. Oh, and my mom didn't like the name Raina, so she wants to call her Pheobe. We'll see. lolHahaha, and I guess with the sleep comes the puppy energy! ROFL I brought her inside so I could get on here, and she was trying to eat everything. So I went and brought down a stuffed Monkey I have (the kind that you buy at zoos that when you squeeze them they make noise; it is my Ferrets' toy) and she is attacking that thing! It made monkey noises at her and she stopped, let it go, barked at it, then pounced on it. ROFL Crazy puppy. |

If I were to change her name, I think it would be to Allie. (Hahaha, there is the "ie" name, Roman. )Pictures...I'll have to upload some new ones, but here is one that I've had of her for about a week: ANNNNNNNND....here are two that I just uploaded: I love the rings she has around her eyes. I think it makes her look cute. I believe she is about ten weeks old.I'll tell you one thing though...it is nice having a shadow again, even if this one is brown and fuzzy instead of sleek and black. Although I already remember the thing that I hated when we had Sadie...having to juggle dogs. It is a pain when you have two outside dogs that don't like other dogs, and you have to juggle them being out of their kennel with a young puppy's potty schedule. lol We just got back from walking Blackie and Rose. After their walk, I kenneled them long enough for Raina to go to the bathroom, and now she is hanging out in here while the dogs are outside chilling with my dad. In about ten minutes, they will go back into their kennel long enough for Raina to go potty, and then we start the whole process over again. lol This is why I wished we had part of the yard fenced. In memory of my puppy who brought me through puppy hood to see her become a dog that will change someone's life and taught me the lesson of saying good-bye: You'll always hold a part of my heart Sadie. ![]() |

Well, Dad isn't too convinced that we need to keep her....he wants to give her back soon. But she is still here, because Sarah couldn't take her back last night, and she probably won't be able to take her back today either, as it is graduation today.
I was supposed to take her back last night, even drove into town and everything, but when I met Sarah she said, "Oh, I'm so sorry, I can't take her back tonight because I have church." So I told my dad it was devine intervention, and that means we should keep her. It makes it even more devine because the reason was church. He just said that that was creative reasoning. However, the pup does have my mom, and well as the rest of my family, smitten. My mom now wants to keep her almost as bad as I do. And Puppy still doesn't have a name...No one can agree on anything, and as we aren't sure if we can keep her, I don't think we want to name her as of now. So, as of right now, her name is Puppy. lol She has been a doll at night; I have her sleeping area gated off by my bed. She sleeps through the night and is a very quiet girl. We haven't had any accidents yet, except for when we were gone for almost four hours and had to crate her. She messed in her crate, but I figured she would. I had a towel in there to soak it up if she did go, so she wouldn't be sitting in pee. DL1988 - she isn't staying outside right now, no, for two reasons. One is that we don't have a kennel for her and two is because she is so young. If we are able to keep her, she will be an outside/inside dog...inside when we are home and inside, outside when we are home and outside, and outside when we aren't home at all, so we don't have to worry about her being in a crate too long. She LOVES it outside, however, and whenever I take her out she walks right up to our pear tree and plops down underneath it. I don't know how much energy ten week old puppies are supposed to have, but she is a calm girl. She sleeps all night, plays for about an hour in the morning, sleeps till noon, eats, sleeps till late afternoon, plays for about an hour, eats, then sleeps all night. lol It is quite nice. As I type she is underneath my chair sleeping. My Grandpa came up today to help my dad plant in the garden and he ADORES her. He asked me if she was a Border Collie and I said no, that she's a Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. He said that he had a Collie when we lived out on a farm who would help him herd the cows. "He was the smartest dog and the most well behaved dog. He stuck around the house and would listen to whatever I said. Collies are the best dogs. This pup will be a good dog." He just needs to tell my dad that. ![]() |

"Brief" update
I love my Grandpa.
From what Grandpa was saying into my mom and dad's conversation, my dad has finally backed up an inch more and is going to check out places that we can put another kennel outside. He is thinking about moving our dogs' kennel and then combining Puppy's and their kennel together, with a dividing fence (and then some) between, so Puppy doesn't get eaten by Blackie and Rose. (And to tell you how out of touch my dad is with our dogs, he asked my mom and I, "We can't just put her in with our two dogs?" to which my mom replied, "Um, no, because they'll eat her.")Blackie and Rose will get used to her eventually (they did with Sadie), but with Sadie, it took them a couple of months before they'd except her, and then they didn't tolorate any of her monkey business. And Puppy is going to stay the night again tonight; let's hope she'll be staying the night for a long time. Tomorrow, if all goes well, we're going to run by the petstore and pick up a toy and some food for her. Wish us luck! |
