Update on "puppy"

We think that we have my dad convinced! He still hasn't said yes yet, so that could change at anytime, though. He is looking into places to put her kennel outside, and he hasn't said to take her back yet. And when he and I were talking to my Coach, my dad thanked him for coaching Jake through his highschool years and then for coaching me this year. Coach said, "Well, I did quit, but your daughter was very good at convincing me otherwise." My dad laughed and said, "Ya, she is good at that, isn't she?" lol

All of the relatives that we had up yesterday for Jake's graduation were saying how cute she was, how good of a puppy she was, how good of a mix she was, and then, to top it all off, we now have offers of a free dog house, as well as a free kennel. LOL I think they want us to keep her as much as we want to. Well, except for my Grandma L. She came into our house and saw the puppy and she said, "What is that thing?!?" to a sly reply of "a puppy", she said, "Well, I'm just going to take back the cookies I made." (She thinks that my mom is crazy with the amount of pets that we have already, so adding a dog, in her eyes, is nuts.)

Puppy now has a name as well, I think. "Chloe" was the name that my Aunt suggested and we actually all liked it (as suprising as that is).

We were gone for four hours yesterday at my bro's graduation, and Chloe, I guess it is, didn't mess in her crate. She was leaking pee by the time I got in there, but she didn't go in her crate! I was proud. lol

So I think that when we are in town today, we'll get some more toys and food. I'm probably going to give her a bath today as well, because since she was raised in a barn, she is dirty. lol

Woo hoo! That's great news!

I bet your dad is waiting for either you, or your mom, to make the suggestion of "Soo, when do I have to take her back?" LOL I'd just leave it be and see what he ends up saying! But by the sounds of it, he seems as though he's got a soft spot in there and may just let her stick around Especially if he's already looking where to put her kennel!

That's awesome that you've gotten an offer for a free doghouse and kennel! That's extra money you can show your dad that is being put away for vet expenses!

Talking OMG, Guess WHAT!!!!!

Chloe is here to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He just called my mom (he's at work) and he said, "Well, I guess the puppy's here to stay, huh? That was very good planning on your part...you brought her home when you were supposed to take her back, and then all of the relatives came up and kept saying how cute and well behaved she was and that we needed to keep her."

So now I have to go out and buy puppy food, toys, a new collar (I want a rolled leather one since she will have long fur), make a vet appointment, give her a bath, trim her nails, clean her ears, buy a doggy bed, start socializing her, start training her....phew! I'm glad I just got paid and I'm going to start working more next week! lol
Our neighbors have a dog kennel just leaning up against their barn (it has been there for the past year) so we are going to ask them if we can borrow it for the time being, until I can buy one and/or my Grandpa can get us the free one.

WHOOOO HOOOOO!!!

I'm glad he said yes, because if he made us take her back after three days, I was going to upset. I haven't been getting up unGodly early to take a puppy outside for nothing!

Sadie would bark when she was playing, but it would be at us, not at the toys. lol This morning Chloe was just laying on the floor and she started barking and attacking the carpet. Crazy puppy.

Once she has her puppyshots done, I'm going to sign her up for a puppy kindergarten at Petsmart. That should be fun. lol

Chloe had a bath today...I trimmed her nails and cleaned her ears first, and she was WONDERFUL for them. She excepts handling extreamly well, which is a good thing because she'll probably need to be groomed when she gets older. For her bath, not so great. lol She kept trying to jump out of the tub, but about halfway through she gave up and just gave me sad puppy eyes. Now she smells like green apple and is so soft and fluffy!
My bro's GF came out today with her dog, Maddie, so Maddie and Chloe played for a while. Now Chloe is tuckered out so she's sleeping underneath a chair we have by the front door. lol

Instead of crate training her we are going to kennel train her outside (once we get a kennel *rollseyes*) and this is going to be a good thing for our dogs. The way we are planning on setting her kennel up (we are going to get two new 10x10 kennels), she'll have a 10x20 kennel all to herself when we are gone and it will join with Blackie and Rose's kennel, which will be turned into a 10x30 kennel.
And then, if/when they ever get along, the dividing fencing between their two kennels will have a door in it, so they can go in and out of each others kennel to form one great big dog run! Ha, its kind of funny...I've been begging my dad to let me enlarge Blackie and Rose's kennel, but he doesn't want to...and now that we have Chloe, they'll have one even bigger than what I thought I was going to be able to give them.

I'm happy about the puppy and all but, why wouldn't you crate train your puppy? Do you not want it to live inside?

Congratulations! I can't wait to see photos of Chloe, I bet she's a cutie. Oh, I remember all that running around for the pups. It's exhausting at times, but I love it.
