Ok, here's the scoop. Just over a month ago, my parents bought a couple of plane tickets for my grandparents in England to come over. It's been so long since any of us have seen them (almost 7 years for me). Everyone has been so excited about their trip over, which was "supposed" to happen today. My brother is even flying in from British Columbia today as well.
Well we received a phone call from my grandmother this morning.......and she was in tears. Because of all these new changes at airports, and because my grandfather was born in Ireland, he isn't allowed to board without a visa. They'd called the airport last week to confirm the flight and ask if they needed to do anything. Now my grandad has to (a 78 year old man), get a train to London to get this visa, pay an extra 200 pounds for the flight change, and cannot get here now untill at least Wednesday. My nan is so worried about him, he has some health problems, one of which is adult lukemia, so she doesn't like the idea of him being alone. My Nan is on a plane right now by herself, and totally upset about it all. Not only that, but the flight was delayed 2 hours, so now there is nobody to pick up my brother for the airport when he arrives here in Windsor. My parents are on their way to Toronto to pick up my Nan, and I have to leave in a couple of hours as I'm running a stag and doe for my best friend. So I have a little time to try and arrange something, or I have to show up late for an event that i've help plan and said i'd help set up before everyone starts arriving. So, this weekend that was supposed to be a happy one for all of us, has started off terrible. I only hope that it gets better, and once Nan and Grandad are both here they can relax and enjoy themselves. I just know Nan isn't going to be able to until Grandad arrives. What a mess! Sorry, I just had to get that out. |

Ugh, sorry everything is turning out messy. I'm sure it will all work out though, and you'll enjoy your weekend even more.

But now I have to get a dvd burner so I can put it to disk. LOLI went over to my parents house to see my Nan last night. She hasn't changed one bit. I swear, she looks identical to the last time I saw her, and the almost 7 years it's been, it doesn't look like she's aged one bit! Well, apart from the fact she seems much shorter than I remember....LOL. Either she's shrunk, or I've grown. Bless her though, she's still getting over the jet lag. My parents put on a movie, and she was out cold on the chair/ottoman less than 20 minutes later. I kept looking over at her, so happy she's here. My face is a bit sore today from smiling so much! |
