Red face i almost brought home another dog

today at adoption day i was greeted with COBY. he was 11 months and the owners were "moving away" and just couldnt take him with them.

well anyway. he is only 11 months and isnt house broken...worst of all he is a fear biter and is so scared of people i wouldnt trust him with kids. He is a maltese mix...i think with lhasa but looks EXACTLY LIKE NIKO only with a little red splashes here and there

so i tried the "Ritz" technique (yes i have turned our member Ritz into a technique lol)

so i was telling my dad about it and he was like "oh well i think we have fleas in the house, what if he has a deadly disease, what if he is a whiner" lol he was joking about fleas and all that because i know we dont have fleas here and whining is nothing and if the dog wasnt healthy he would be at the vet

but my efforts were ignored lol
the shelter volunteers even tried to lure over my dad

one thing i am surpised about is that he wasnt scopped up immeadiatly by some one i mean he go NO applications at all! so he will be there next week

mabey my parents will atleast let me foster him and socialize him

anyways just had to share lol (yes i find it funny because my parents are forever saying no pets and look what i have lol)

"Moving away" my behind. They got a cute little puppy, didn't think they had to do anything with it and now that it is still going on their floor and biting everyone - they want to dump it on someone else.

I hope that someone can foster it, get it past these issues and into a great forever home.

Funny thing is, people see us enjoying our with lower blood pressure and less stress. They don't understand the work and expense involved with properly caring for a dog until they get one.

I agree. They love the cute little puppy until it starts acting like every other puppy with the biting, pooping, whining. Then, they find good excuses for dumping it.

Maybe the owner was put in jail -- that would be a good excuse.

Roman - I can't tell you how many animals I've almost adopted. Fortunately, my Home Owners Associations limits us to 2 of any kind of pet. I can only adopt a couple of cats without breaking the rules.

to me it looks like the person "babied" it everytime it was whining or chewing or biting and that is why he has those problems and i think the girl (the owner was only like 19-21) wanted a small dog to carry around like paris hilton and he got bigger and badder i mean he is big for a maltese mix

i would love to foster him atleast and try to sort out all his issues. mabey if he is still there when school gets out (only 10 more days) i could take him in for the summer

ROFLMAO Glad I could be of service. The key is persistence, an angelic attitude, and being a responsible person. lol

Hahaha, are you going to do my plan of "bring the dog home and *foster* it and then your dad will say, 'Ok, sure, why not?'"

Seriously though, I do hope you are either able to foster him, adopt him, or a lovely home comes up for him.

That always makes me mad to see dogs thrown away just because they have problems. That is how we ended up with Blackie. My guess is that someone bought a cute Lab puppy and then when it turned into a six month old untrained, un nuetered, hyper Lab puppy the said, "Heck with this" and they dumped him off.

A dog that a petsat for once, Toby, was a babied spoiled brat. And his brattiness ended up with him being rehomed or put to sleep...I'm not sure which. Since they never bothered to train him and they gave in to his every whim, he "wore the pants" in the famly and decided to train them with bites and growls. They didn't want to deal with it so I think they took him to a shelter, where he had no chance of being adopted out as he was aggressive.
