Stanley Steamer Commercial - Hate Campaign

Do any of you hate the Stanley Steamer commercial where the little boy tells his mom about a new trick his dog knows? The dog (a lab) scoots his butt on the carpet and then the mother yells at the dog. It really makes me mad. The woman needs to either get her lazy butt up and express his glands or take him to the vet or groomer to get it done.

I went to their website and told them how mad it made me. I hope others do the same.

Haven;t seen that one! I have seen the hardwood floor commercial where the woman mentions her "Labradoodle".

I saw the commercial this morning. I thought it was funny. I'm just wondering how a dog trainer teaches the "butt scoot" LOL

The commercial doesn't say anything about what she does afterwards (other than clean the carpet)...For all you know, the "imaginary pet owner" DOES take the dog to the groomer/vet/whatever. I imagine most dog owner's initial reaction to their dog scooting across the carpet is to cry out. Heck, if I catch one of my dogs peeing or pooping or doing something else in the house I don't want them to do, I yell their name. Doesn't mean I don't do something constructive afterwards. In the grand scheme of things to get riled up about, this is just isn't one of them IMHO. It's just a commercial. And a pretty funny one at that...the dog's "new trick" LMAO. I can totally see a kid saying that.

I watched it on youtube... it's funny. It's just a commercial, I don't think it's anything to be mad about. I don't think the company really meant anything by having a dog rubbing his butt on the carpet, they just wanted to get their message across.

I still don't like it. Yelling at the dog is inappropriate. The dog's butt itched. What does she expect him to do? Dang!

My first reaction was to think "Ooh, I hope she knows to at least express those anal glands..." lol. Then I also eneded up wondering how the dog was trained to pull that trick off - pretty funny.

That doesn't exactly make for a cute commercial

Lol, for sure. The company probably wouldn't be thrilled if they found out that *that's* the first reaction I had.

Thanks for the post of the commercial Doozy.

Now, having seen it, I have an opinion. Like you doubted I would... LOL!!

It could have been made much better, and alot pet-friendlier. I don't have a problem with the story line... but the ladies reaction actually seemed out of place. It just didn't flow very well as a commercial and definitely didn't make me think about cleaning my carpets. It would have been funnier to have the dog dragging some garbage or something... with the kid saying he taught him that.
