My Friend Got attack by a Pit

Well a couple days ago my Friend Nick, he got attacked by a Pit bull... Well at least they think that is what it was... people said that it was a stray, and that when Nick came outside he was attacked, but the funny thing is that Two guys across the street started laughing! so i think that the dog was maybe theirs, but they dont claim ownership. This still doesnt change my piont of view on the Pits, right now i rele think that the owners sent the dog on him..... He is very Tramatized by this, and he rele loves dogs, I think he maybe afraid now of Pit Bullls but he totally has a right, the Pit bull jumped up, bit his right arm then Nick had to get 12 stiches! But just keep him in yalls prayers and prayer that they find the owners of this dog....

I'm sorry this happened to your friend. I was chased down by a PitBull outside of a Starbucks once..I managed to hide behind a tree until the owners came and caught him. No harm done, but it's a frightening thing to be chased down by ANY dog! That was a good example of why we have leash laws....

If this dog came at your friend from out of the blue, with no provocation, that is a prime example of what I mean when I say (other thread) that a dog like that needs to be euthanized. Has animal control found this dog or done anything about it? This is outrageous!

I do hope your friend will heal up, physically, as well as emotionally. That is very frightening. I know....been down that road.

yea Nick called to give a "full story" he was walking his dog when all of the sudden a pit saw them in a yard, the Pit walked straight over to them and started nipping at him and the dog, so he picked up his dog and it bit his left hand, nick put down his dog and then the Pit bite his right arm. He went into ER and they bandaged him then he waited for and hour and a half!! but about the dog, they found his owners but the dog WASNT EUTHANIZED!! which made me upset, as much as i love dogs, that one needed to be put down. i an not sure if they charged the owners or not, but he says he is doing okay, when he was talling me what happened he was tearing up, i could tell over the phone, his mom told my mom that he was having a hard time trying to forget it all, that the images were still colorfully vivid in his mind...

and why we need leash laws that are ENFORCED.

so whether the dog should be euthanized or not, the owner needs to be held responsible, as s/he was the one allowing the dog to roam at large. if the dog is euthed and the owner not held accountable, most likely the owner will just get another dog and allow it too to roam.

if there was another dog involved, it greys whether the dog was truly human aggressive (unacceptable in the breed) or dog aggressive, which is a whole different thing.

it's not a pit bull problem. it's an irresponsible owner problem.

They said they thought it was a Pit. They sohuld KNOW before they start cristizing. And the people that laughed should be banned from owning ANY dog. I hope your friend gets well. And he should watch the Pit Bull Problem. It was the people that told the dog to do it in this case, not the dog.

gator was a fighting dog. dogs of his lineage are referred to as gator pits. (actually i think there were/are a couple gators but i'm too lazy to check)

basically it's a sign that the dog was "game bred" or from "fighting lines" but whether that's true or not.... it's byb advertising for the most part imo.

I'm so sorry, ChiChi. That must've been very scary for him. IMO it's crazy that dog wasn't pts....it should be.

I totally agree, it should have been, but when they contaced the owners, they said it was a gator pit, and that it had never harmed anyone, so that is where the AC got the thought, well maybe he provoked it, but I kno he didnt, he was minding his own business.... But i rele agree, and thankx for explaining the "gator pits"!
