Classified ads...

I saw this one and it just made me sick:

Quote:
dog: German Shepard / Greyhound / unsure
7-20-2007
Id: 1426801
Owner: Indianapolis, IN
***-***-***
Name: Armanti
Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Size: Medium

Dog loves people, will hug you everyday. Needs acres to run on and be free. Sleeps in doghouse or garage. Good dog. We need to find a home for Armanti, moving to a small house with no yard.
The poor dog...I guess when they can't ignore the dog anymore they will just get rid of it...

Quote:
dog: Golden Retriever purebred
7-19-2007
Id: 1426429
Owner: Mitchell, IN
Name: Buddy
Age: Young
Sex: Male
Size: Large

Buddy is a gorgeous, purebred Golden Retriever male, one year old. He has no bad habits whatsoever, he doesn't even jump on anyone. He has had basic obedience training and knows heel on leash, sit, down, stay and shake hands. He's good with other dogs, rides well, loves kids and loves to play with toys. The ONLY reason for placing him is that he was obtained for my son and he quickly lost interest in Buddy. He is far too nice a dog to sit idle. He craves attention and needs a home where he can be the spoiled king he should be. A $200 adoption fee applies, a fraction of what we have invested, but we want a great home for Buddy. No shipping, no scammers, and please no rescues reply. We want to meet and screen all potential homes to ensure he gets the best!
To bad they didn't think of the dog's best interest when they bought him...explain to me why parents buy a dog just for their kids? I mean, wouldn't they half way want to have the animal in the first place if they were to spend money on it?

Age: Baby
Size: Large

IM not a breeder i didn't want this to happen but it did. and my dog had 8 puppies the mom is a austilin shepard/rottweiler and the dad is full blooded german rottweiler. very good dogs. there is an adoption fee 200.00 obo. im moving soon and i do not want to take them to a shelter. I wiill not ship these puppies anywhere so dont even ask
And there always has to be a classified like this...."No, I'm not a breeder, but I had to unaltered dogs and silly me, I didn't know they would mate when left together. And yep, I do want to get rid of the puppies, but I'm asking $200 for a mutt so I can make a quick buck, because an extra$1,600 never hurt anyone..."

That last one is outrageous! If they didn't want their dog to have puppies, they should have taken more responsibility to stop it happening. And my gosh, they're charging a lot for them!

I went into a petshop two days ago (yes, god forbid!) and they had quite a few dogs for sale. They had two Alaskan Malamutes for A$990!! They also had Boodles (or something with an equally horrid name) for sale.

wow it amazes me every time (even though by now you think it wouldn't) at how irresponsible people are with their pets. I must admit I had one cat who was indoor outdoor that I let her get pregnant, but that was before I started coming here and researching other sites about animal control and how to properly care for pets. Thank you GP-ers for making me a smart gal.

Now how do we reach everyone else? hhhhmmmmmm???

Same thought here . If they want the pups to find good homes, and it seems like they need to fast, why in world would they charge $200 for them ? Unbelievable !

Oh, I know how that goes. My family started out as very irresponsible dog owners....now I worry about feeding my dogs corn products. LOL

It just seems like sometimes people don't have a lick of sense and when you do try to educate them, they ignore it.

I agree with swiftwind. If they're not breeders, why charge so much for a mutt? Heck, drop them off at a shelter, then at least they'd get a responsible owner, the SPCA would make sure of that!

Yes, pet stores are outrageous. The one here has a sign that says all their dogs are from "private breeders" (BYB in disguise) . Under this sign there is another sign that says if you have puppies of any breed or cross they will buy them from you, no questions asked.

Their prices are about $1400 for a purebred dog and $950 for a mix and $1500 for a "designer" dog (they think up a fancy name for every mix so they can sell them for designer price instead of mix price... ).
