Question Where Large dogs run wild

Those of you who have powerful or misunderstood large dogs, like Pitbull, German Shepherd, Boxer, Rottwieler, etc., is there a place that you can let them run free (off leash) other than in your backyard? Of course, the dog must be able to listen to you, so if your dog is well trained, where can you take it without fear and let it run wild? I appreciate any comments / suggestions, and from any city, but because I live in South California (specifically near Orange), I would love to hear from people who live near me.

Also, people in South California, is there a beach where we can take our dogs (on or off leash)?
Thank you!

I let my GSD run anywhere as long as I am present. Ben is a great listner, on and off his leash. I take him to parks, state parks and to the boarding kennel I work at to play. Even though he doesn't really "play" with other dogs, he likes to take all the toys off of them.... so its sorta play?!

My Rottweiler Toby was rarely on a leash unless it was a safety issue.(like a busy road ) I've always lived in a quiet neighbourhood with lots of beaches and greenspace.
He was curb-trained and would trot up to the corner and wait for me...or run up and sit at the crosswalks.

If we saw people up ahead that we didn't know, I would leash him just to be polite...since not everybody wants a loose Rotty approaching them.

I am a native of So. Cal. Do you mean the city of Orange or Orange County?
Check around the Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa area, I believe there is a dog beach - there are also a number of dog parks in the Orange County area.

Yes, I meant mostly Orange County; I live in Mission Viejo.
I will check the cities you said.
If you know any other place in Mission Viejo or near there (Maybe Laguna Niguel?), Please let me know.
Thank you!

I go to parks with large open fields, preferably at times when a lot of people won't be around (early morning, etc) In the wintertime here in Ohio I can pretty much go when and wherever I want since most people hide in their homes like the cold is going to kill them LOL

I have a 65 lb GSD/Husky mix and she has 4 friends (Blk Labs) that she plays with off leash most everyday. (except in bad weather). I live in town on a VERY BUSY street but we have 7 back yards that hook together. Together the area is about the size of a football feild (300 ft x 100 ft) with a small creek down the middle of it. It works out well for us and its a great way for the dogs to burn off energy in a safe open area. We watch them very closely when they are busy playing, but none of them even try to head toward the street.
