Anyone have a tattoo?

I was wondering if anyone has a tattoo cause I'm planning on getting one either this month or next month (depending on when the artist can fit me and my friend in). Could you tell me about your experience with the healing and such? Also if you have it in the small of your back, do you know if you can still get a needle for freezing for when giving birth? Also any general info on tattoos would be awesome! Thanks! I figure OC has a tattoo, why not me? (kidding!~ this is not my reason for getting a tattoo!!)

BTW my tattoo is going to be a picture of OC's head and neck with a chain dangling from his neck with a celtic cross hanging on it. In the future I might add a faded silhouette of a galloping horse in behind it as well.

Cheers!

i have two tattoos, a butterfly on my right thigh and a star on my left wrist. i want another one but i don't have a design for it yet (or the money!)

as far as healing, it's a lot like a bad brush burn. they usually scab up and then itch like crazy as they heal. aloe helps a lot. your artist will give you follow up care instructions.

and no, there is no reason a tattoo would cause any problems with a spinal block during childbirth. it's just ink in the skin.

I have two. Butterfly on my ankle ( I know original) and another on my upper back. A day after they will scab up a little bit. You want to follow the instructions for care very carefully. If you keep bactitracine (Sp?) on it so that it is moist it will heal better. Scabbing is bad because it pulls the ink back up when the scab falls off. Just make sure what your getting you will want there perminantly. Take it from someone who knows! My butterfly was a test to see if I could take the pain. While its an ok tattoo, I don't really like it. My husband is also a tat artist and has his (in his case) leg of shame. lol

Thanks for the info guys!!! I know for sure I want to get this because it represents the 3 strongest parts in my life (well 3 if the galloping horse gets added). The 1st is Oceano, to represent dogs and my love of them as well as it's significant because he's the first dog I've ever owned, the 2nd is the celtic cross to represent my faith. Even though I'm christian I'm choosing a celtic cross because they're more decorative and also i love celtic stuff. the 3rd would be the faded horse silhouette to represent my love of horses.

Cheers!

I don't, but my sister has one or two I think. Everything went fine for her--as far as I know it felt fine. She got a rose to remember her friend's mom who died a few years ago and was always very giving .

I've always wanted one, just never really took any initiative to actually get it. I'd be interested to hear how yours goes though.

I remember when I first got my cartiliage pierced a long while ago. My dad wanted to watch, I guess because he thought I'd look like I was in pain. It didn't hurt though, but I could hear it crunch through. Sorry, that sounds kinda gross.

I don't want a tattoo and I don't even have my ears priced... but that’s just me. However, aren't you going to grow Ren? I would wait a few years, but that’s me. Good luck!

I have two tats on my lower back. One is of a cat, kinda cool and that was my trial tat, and then I have the face of my dog that I lost almost 2 years ago. I had it done two days after I lost her and am happy I did it. The cat only took about 20 minutes while Whimpers picture took about 1 1/2 hours. It really doesn't hurt that bad. But I have to say I was comic relief for everyone else getting tats done that day. My facial experssions and the words coming out of my mouth where pretty funny! Truck driver language! If you know what I mean. LOL

Mine healed within a week which I am told is pretty quick. My friends took about 2 weeks which I guess is more like it. Whatever you do just make sure you follow what the artists tells you to do. Mine told me I don't care what your friends say and how much they know about tats, I am telling you this is what to do and if you follow my instructions you will get the best results! So I did. I have had my cat for almost 3 years and Whimper for almost 2 years and both tats look really good. I have even gone into different tat places and the artists there have looked at them said they looked really good.

My best friend got one before she had her first baby and it doesn't look bad even after all the stretching and what not. Although she tells me she is going to go in and have some touch up done on it.

Well I guess I will stop blabbing away! LOL Let us know how it goes!

actually, there can be. if the tattoo is too new the ink can get into the needle then into the bloodstream. Once the tattoo has set for a few years there isnt any problems, unless the tattoo was done improperly and never set right after time.

I have one on the small of my back...i loved the feeling. I had a hard time cleaning it, my friend did it, due to the location. But if you have a friend to help it goes fine. Driving was hard the first day cuz I didnt want it to touch anything.

I have two good friends that are tattoo artists. if there is any info we cant help you with just ask Ill ask them.

some things to think about:
AUTOCLAVE- make them show you it, if they dont have one, DO NOT get a tattoo there.
It should be clean...think hospital clean...thats the only way its sanitary...and the only way to get a safe tattoo with out risking diseases (hep, HIV, etc- they are VERY uncommon, but always a possibility if they are unsanitary)
