Question Question about 'Puppy Points'

Under my post it says I have 3 rep powers, but in my user CP it only shows one, BUT it says "5 points total". Is that supposed to happen? Or is there a way you can change it so you can see what posts you got it for?

Thanks.

Rep points / Rep Power or "Puppy Points" as their called can be given to someone. When you see a post that you feel it's author or someone else made an exceptionally good point, post or anything else that impressed you, you can click on "puppy points" and give them a "good rep" for it.

The higher the person's rep power the more puppy points their able to give to someone else. If you hold your cursor over the green bar of someone's rep power it will tell you something about their status here on the forum.

You can check your own rep by clicking on "User CP" towards the top left side (and next to FAQ and Members List) of your screen to see what others have given to you. I call them Rep Tarts

Rep power and points are two different things, for instance if you look at my power it's three digits but if you were to look in my user cp it would show a number in the thousands. The number listed in your user cp is the "actual" number of points you've been given and your rep power is the number of points your able to award someone else when you give puppy points.

Hope that answers your question for you.

Thank you. I thought my computer was messing up or something because mine was going up really slowly. lol

But why does it only list one in my user CP. It says like "yogurt--which kind is best... boxmein21... good post not too many know about that-Box" ... Shouldn't there be 5 like that? It says 5 points total...

Also, the number under my location is changing but the one in my user CP isn't... Your give can go up when your get hasn't changed?

lol I'm too slow for this

EDIT: ohhhhh I think I get a bit of it. So I don't have 3. I have 5, but I give three. So other people don't know how many points you have. Right. Sorry.

Also, don't know if this helps but, when people give you puppy points they don't have to leave a note with it, so the number of comments won't match the number of points you've received.

Ohhhh, so if you don't leave a comment it won't say what post you go the points for? That makes sense. Sorry

No, everytime you leave puppypoints it will show up in that person's CP, but if you dont' leave a comment the comment box will simply be empty.

Puppypoints made easy....

Total Points = The number of points you have been given by other members. This is simple addition and every member has a different number of points to give. If you have 5 now and Crossfire gave you points you'd get 259 more points so you'd then have 304 points in total. But only two comments in your CP because the points are only from two different people.

Power points = Points you can give to other people. These increase slowly and on their own over time as you post more. But also increase slightly in number as people give you puppypoints.

However...just because someone gives you an extra 100 puppypoints doesn't mean you'll get 100 points added to your power. You might only get 1 or 2 points..maybe you'll get 20. Powerpoints increase very, very slowly.

Oh and if you see a grey 'pip' next to one of the comments (instead of a green one) it just means that although that person wanted to give you points they didn't have any powerpoints to give. They still loved your comment though.

Cass.

Okay... lol one last question. What do the green poxes under your rep power mean? lol I just noticed that even though ilovemypup and I have the same rep power, the green dots are different.
