Excited!!!

So, as some of you know, my mom can no longer work. So for the longest time she's been trying to get her retirement/disability from the state. Well, she won her case! So now we're just waiting for when they'll send her the retro-check

The topic always comes up about me getting a car. My mom wants to get one for me because with having to help out so much, it's dificult to save money for one. She's always wanted me to buy my own because it makes you appreciate it a little bit more.

But I've found a car. My BF and I's friend is selling is 98' Maxima. However it's not an old, just drove around car. He's done a LOT of work to it... engine swap, better coilovers, new paint job, great tires, new interior... he used to take his car to Maxima meets. So anyhow, he was selling it for 5G, but asked what my mom was willing to pay. Before my mom knew that it had work done to it, she thought it was just a 98 maxima.. so she was only going to offer 3G. But she text me today after my BF told her a little more about the car (he knows more about it than I do) and said she's willing to pay 4G if he can hold it for me. So, he was fine with that

I'm so excited! I can't wait to get my own car! Next is looking for insurance. The one thing that's a plus is that the car is paid off. The part that sounds like the downside is I can only put premium gas in, but he gets really good mileage out of it so I'd only have to buy gas about every 3 weeks.

It's a great looking car. I'm so jealous, I can't wait to get my own car. You'll have to show us some more pictures of it when you finally get it.

sweet ride! sure beats the heck out of my 02 focus hehehe, but I made the last payment 3 months ago, so now I have a feeling it'll fall apart. that's so exciting...your first car is always an experience...I hit 8 dear with mine and rear ended my best friend!!

IceyBlueSibes, that is a sweet car! My parents won't let my buy my own car till the end of my senior year

I find it to be pointless because im driving a car my dad bought for a second family car. I am the one making payments, putting gas in it, and the only one who drives it. I told my dad that I hope to buy it off of him when i'm aloud he replies with a simple "i'll let you no"

I don't understand his thinking, but then again the two of us bash heads almost dailey

I want to see side pictures of the car! It looks like something out of a brand new car commerical the way it is sitting in the picture!

Hehe, thanks. I'll have to see if he's got some side views, he used to have some on another page. It's a really nice car, though. MOST of the mods he took off (exhaust system, and the rims) but that's no big deal. I can buy my own

But it's a nice car even without those

That is so neat!

Much better than my little '89 Geo I'm driving. LOL The Geo has almost 233,000 miles on it.

We must do a lot of running around....we have to fill up my mom's car almost twice a week. *shakes head* Although to just get into town it is around 20miles, so that probably has something to do with it. LOL

Thats great! When you get the insurance it pays for its self to insure as you would a car with a loan..
Ohhhhhhh the first car = what wonderful memories! ( by the way- I name my cars.. lol..so whats the cars name?)

What kind of car does your mom drive? My mom has to fill up her van almost twice a week. That thing eats gas like water --- Kia Sedona. She does a lot of running around too. I'd probably be driving to work more than anything.

borzoimom, haven't thought about naming it yet. LOL Got any ideas?

She drives a newer Oldsmobile. It has good gas mileage (around 30mpg), we just do such much running around. A busy day can see us heading to town about three times (and counting the return trip, is like 6 times, which would be around 120miles...and that isn't counting the miles driven once in town). LOL With five kids in different activities, it is a rare day when we are all home at once.
Although our van...it is a huge gas guzzler. There is a reason we only drive it now when the whole family needs to go somewhere together.

My Geo's name is Old Blue.

My dad had a car in highschool that my mom's brothers called the Kidney Bean (it was an ugly green color...they even made a sign that said, "Reserved for the Kidney Bean" LOL), and my mom's sports car that she had when she was in highschool was named "Beast".
