Lucy's first day of school
Lucy started puppy kindergarten today. She had a blast (and I did too!) There are 10 adorable puppies in our class. We have 3 yellow labs, 1 great dane, 1 neaopolitan mastiff (sooooo cute) 1 husky x dalmation, 1 black lab x grey hound cross, 1 german shepard, and 1 white boxer. They all loved play time the best and the other pups played all rough and tumble. Lucy was the smallest puppy by far and was too nervous to play much. Some of the pups already weigh more than 40 pounds and I was a bit scared they could hurt her since she only weighs 5 pounds right now. The neo mastiff was so laid back and slept half way through the class so Lucy got buddy buddy with him. His poor owner couldn't wake him up at all. She gave the command down and he never got back up! LOL, LOL, LOL
There are 3 Lucy's in class so things got confusing when we tried to call our pups to come to us. I didn't think that was such a popular name! The 3 yellow labs were hilarious and needed to be split up in class. All they wanted to do was play with each other. We started calling them Hewy, Lewy and Dewy....They are such adorable little yellow fluff balls. The most well behaved were the german shepard pup and the lab x grey hound and of course my little Lucy. I know the only reason my little tasmainian devil Lucy was so calm and reserved was because she is a little nervous..I'll give her a month and I'm sure she will show her true colors. LOL She also has a great food drive and locks that treat on target with her radar eyes. The white boxer (also named Lucy) was very scared and skittish. The instructor had her work off to the side of everyone for most of the class so she could get used to all the chaos and just watch the other pups for a bit. All in all it was a great class and loads of fun. I can't wait for next week. |

That Neo does sound like a doll baby. How funny and cute. It sure sounds fun. I always loved puppy class and what a great opportunity for the pups to play together a little bit at "playtime" and get socialized and use to other dogs. It sure helps later on in their lives.
I'm glad you had a good experience and can't wait to hear how things progress. Lucy might just end up being the star. LOL. |

LOL, it is over 4 hours later and Lucy is still sleeping. She had a lot of excitement today. She already knows all of her commands but the distractions of all the other puppies and owners definetly shortened her attention span, LOL. She is passed out on the couch as we speak. I'm going to go try and sneak a picture of her real quick. What a cutie!
Here is a pic of her snoozing after her exciting day. ![]() |

Mia should stop growing soon. Bailey weighed about 10 pounds at 7 months. She weighs 11 pounds now at a year and a half and she is a skinny little thing. Lucy is much bigger than Bailey was at this age so I bet she will be at least 11-12 pounds full grown. They are both bigger than the breed standard. I took them both out on the sidewalk to practice some obedience commands. With people and cars going by it helps them concentrate with distractions. I hope this helps Lucy listen to me in class better. I'm not too worried about it though, I just want to show her off. She is really eager to learn and has a great food drive, I just want her to beat that smart little german shepard pup! LOL Lucy is just having fun....her mama is the competetive one! LOL!!!!
