"Tee-ed off!".. Jeez some people!

We have a new roof being put on our house. The men doing it work for my husbands company. Yesterday except for the banging and Hottie having a hard time with one of the men ( found out later why..), it basically went without incident.
Well today the men show up, with two more, and one replaced from yesterday. Anyway- one of the guys as I let the dogs out ( it was 6:30am) started barking at the dogs.. Hottie raises his ears, and calmly starts walking towards the guy. I know what raised ears in a sighthound means- stalking... I went to intercept hottie knowing Hottie was sizing him up.. The MAN BARKED AT HIM AGAIN!! And starts laughing like its funny! By that time I got hottie, and walked him back to house as Hottie gives off a repeated low growls.
I got back in the house with all 4, and called my husband. He uh took care of it and now we have a new man- but HONESTLY- People can be sooooooo stupid!! Baiting a dog of that size???? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING.. And the sad thing about this, is that if the man had continued, I had not intervened on time, if the man got bit or jumped at- who would be at fault here?? Yes its on my property but the dogs are off lead..
JEEEEEEEEEEZ the stupidity of people!!!! Baiting a dog that is over 100 pounds!!!

Well that was pretty stupid of the guy. Sheesh. There's kids in my neighbourhood that bark at my dogs too, but they're kids, it's hard to believe a grown man would do that. Pretty mature eh?

But I thought you said you were going to board Hottie today after the stress it caused him yesterday? Was it just that it was still early and he hadn't gone yet, or are you not boarding him now?

I will never understand how some people would get a thrilled by doing that, have you ever notice it's usually men that would taunt/ tease or torture dogs?....I guess there is a reason why the phrase " men are dogs" exist.

Yea we were but my husband changed the crew around. And it was the morning out. Hottie would have been here anyway.
My husband says the company would have had to pay for his dog bite, not to mention the investigation against hottie. It was just stupid and unprofessional to act as such..

Stupid and unprofessional about sums it up.

Ah, next time he does it to a dog that size (who might not be as gentle as hottie) he might get a surprise.

Geez. What an idiot. If there was one thing I would never do it is bark at a dog that is acting as if it is going to eat me.

That is the one thing I like about Illinois dog law, in that situation the dog would not have been at fault for biting the guy. Our legislature actually realized that there is only so far a dog should be pushed before a bite becomes not it's fault. Actually if you could get people to back up your story you could actually take him to court for damages.

I don't understand why people do that. Some kid did that to Abbey once when I was walking her, and she lunged at him. Some people are so stupid

I could understand if it was a kid- but this was an adult man... I have calmed down since this morning, but the thought of what could have happened, as in my area a dog over 50 pounds is just flat out put down, is frightening..

There are many uneducated people out there and it sucks that you came across one in that manner. I am so glad that you did something to stop it though. There are too many people that want to do things big or small but never go through with it so Kudos to you!

How stupid can you get! A person did that to me last thanksgiving to Lucy. They were my great aunts boyfriend. They chased her all around the yard barking at her for a while before I finally realized what was going on and yelled at him. I'm suprised he didn't get bitten.

that'd really irk me too! you know, have some respect not only for the dog, but also the owner. i hope the next dog he barks at isn't as forgiving as hottie

Some people just seem like they're asking to get bitten! In our previous house we used to get high school boys walking down our street after school, all the time (and the school was notorious for having a bad reputation). Once Harley was barking at some school kids walking by our house, as they were making a lot of noise, shouting at eachother and stuff. One of the boys actually walked up to our front door and told Harley to "shut up" and then proceeded to rev Harley up. That boy was just lucky there was a door between him and Harley!
