I found a dog today...

We started out this afternoon with the intention of going to the park with Dakota, and halfway there we stopped at an intersection and there was a small black dog running around in the middle of the street. (Of course, idiots were honking at her, scaring her half to death)
I got out and caught her, and we brought her home.. She's sleeping right now in Ripley's crate. She is the sweetest little thing, very quiet and not demanding at all. Tomorrow I will be calling around different shelters to see if anyone has lost a sweet little dog.. I checked her teeth and she does have adult teeth, but if I judged by her teeth I wouldn't say she was over 2 years old.

What I'm posting about is her breed. I have a couple of pictures of her that I took with a cellphone. I think she looks like a Basenji, or a Senji mix, but I didn't know they were so small! (She's only about 10lbs)

I'm hoping, if nobody claims her, that I can keep her or at the very least foster her. She's a nice little dog, very low maintenance and seems to have a pretty good attitude. If she's not aggressive with the boys, she'd fit in well around here. (Yes, I am a sucker!

)

These are TERRIBLE pictures and I will try to get some better ones tomorrow, but these are all I have at the moment.

What do you guys think she might be? I definitely see some sighthound in her, not just in her looks but also in her personality, I'm just unsure as to WHAT kind of sighthound she is. (BTW her tail curls tightly over her back, dunno what it was doing in the pictures)

LOL. We posted at the same time, only you beat. She's adorable. She really does look like Basenji doesn't she. Well, let us know if you find her owner or if you get to keep her.

Cute pup! I would say she might have some besinji,sp, in her. Keep us posted on what happens.

AWWWWW she is a great looking pup!! yea she rele looks like a Besinji, or maybe a mix. But the thing is Sejis are at a wieght range of 22-24 lbs, so it maybe a puppy, their height is 16-17 inches, how tall is this one??? that may give you a clue of how old she is, well good luck and be sure to keep us posted! GET SOME BETTER PICS!!! lol

Well the calling around has started and I have not found any reports of a lost dog that looks like her.

Kim - If noone claims her and I can't keep her, Basenji rescue is the first place I will look to find her a home. I can definitely say *as she is YODELING* that she is not a dog for everyone.

I'll let you guys know how it goes! I think she does have owners, so I just hope I can find them.

She is cute! I think she has Basenji in her too. I'm a sucker for the Basenjis. (As with all sighthounds. lol

those and the working breeds are my best!

) Good luck either keeping her, or finding her a home!

She looks very well cared for, even her nails are short. I would say she has an owner that is heart-sick right now. I wish all the dogs who get lost would be treated as your treating her.
