What to do with 30 lbs of dog food?
Long story short: Raccoons got into our garage before we could move the two bags of dog food into the house and we're too afraid to feed the remaining 30 lbs of CSFTDLS to Giselle. I'm probably being overprotective because the majority of the food looks untouched. It looks safe to eat and probably is because we caught the raccoons before they completely ripped open the bag. What should I do with it, now? Donate to the shelter? The bag is ripped at the top, so I'm not sure if the shelter wants that...It's such a waste

its probably fine, but if you're that worried about it, don't pawn it off on the shelter. Just dump it and buy new stuff. Or throw it off in the woods far far away so the 'coons go away to look for food, not to your house.

I wouldn't dump it personally, I would just dispose of it in the trash. You could end up with other animals eating the kibble and getting really sick (ex. deer who are herbivores) or if you don;t put it far away enough from your house the coons could still be attracted to come back again or be enticed to visit the next closest house.
Cheers! |

I just wanted to mention that you can usually bring an opened bag of food back to the store where you bought it for a full refund. They will send it back to the manufacturer with some excuse...(made your dog sick, etc...).Might not be ethical, but it IS possible if $$ is tight.
