Just got the you know what scared outta me.

So im sitting up here in bedroom with the laptop with Captain using my legs as a pillow. Now Afghans are not known for being watch dogs and that applies to all of my sighthounds. But suddenly Captain puts his head up real quick and perked his ears. He had my attention for sure at first I thought it was because he heard Tommy coming home. But then he let out his first ever low angry growl. And then proceeded to take off as fast as he could down the stairs and to the front door.

Now im a HUGE chicken lol. So I scooted off my bed and on to my butt lol and scooted down the hall LMAO. I then peered around the banister to see Captain with his paws on the front door looking out the little top windows. He was still growling so I called Tommy and told him what was going on. Luckily he was almost home.

Once he got home he walked the property with Captian but didn't see anyone or anything. And even though there is that I am still creeped out. I swear this was the first time in all of Captains years that he has ever acted this way. Well atleast now he is back to napping next to me.

Azrael use to scare me to death when she would start barking like crazy and waking me up untill I finally figured out what it was that had her spooked. We have crows that love my roof, and they get up there and bang walnuts on it. It's a metal roof, so the noise intensifys. Next, we have a skunk that comes in our yard every night and she hears it even if it isn't stinky. Maybe you had a cat or some other animal outside that Captain heard or even smelled.

Phew, that must have been scary. I remember the first time the Lab puppy we were fostering got her guarding instincts. I was sitting in our dark living at home by myself watching TV. Sadie was sound asleep and all of a sudden she woke up, raised her hackles, and gave some of the meanest woofs I've ever heard her do directed towards the door. That scared the mess out of me. LOL
It turns out she was only barking at a weird noise from the furnace, but good grief. When she did that, I always felt more secure with her around knowing that if anything was up, she'd let me know.
