Talking I'm back for a bit. ^_^

I've been missing everyone here, so I'm back for a while. I just had a bit of a scare with the Springers that I need oppinions [sp] about, and I shall give updates.

First of all, the scare I just had.
This is what happened:
My sister and I were in the living room, just relaxing and watching T.V. when all of a sudden we heard a dog yelping. Realizing I had left the Springers outside, I jumped up and yanked open the door to see what was happening. Earlier today a Cattledog had come by, but he seemed kinda small and timid. But, knowing male dogs, I feared it might be him and A.j.
It wasnt him, it was just the Springers. From what I could see, A.j. had Simetra by the neck and was shaking her while she screamed. Seeing this scared the poop out of me because I know Springers are prone to Rage Syndrome (I think thats what it was?).
I kept myself calm and just went over to them and made discouraging "Shht" noises towards A.j., took Sim inside, then tied A.j. up for a few minutes while I made sure Sim was ok.
She was ok, a little startled obviously, but not even a scratch. This made me realize; Simetra has always been a screamer. One time she thought the door was going to hit her when i was closing it and she yelped even when the door didnt even come close to her.
For safety, Im taking A.j. in to be neutered as soon as possible. Simetra had been spayed a while ago. A.j. has always been kinda rough when playing, but I'd think he would stop if Sim was yelping that loudly. I thought one of them were being killed from how loud she was being.
Bringing A.j. in, he was the usual dope he always has been, ball in mouth and butt wiggling around. Just to see what would happen, I held him next to Sim for a second. Sim seemed a little worried, but A.j. didnt even pay attention to her. In a non-scolding voice, I asked him, "What did you do to your sister?" and he kinda made a worried face, but of course i dont think he would have remembered what he did do.
I'm still trembling a bit right now, it startled me so badly. I really dont want to discover that A.j. is aggressive or has a problem.

So, I would really appreciate it if people gave me their oppinions [sp?].

Anyway. To the happier stuff!
-First of all, as I said above, Sim has been spayed about a month ago, almost two months ago.
-My job is going extremely well. I'm pretty much the main dog care-taker now because the other guy, Doug, also works for some kind of service for the town and is busy clearing the roads of snow lately.
-Welcome eleven new little pups into the world! Mia, one of the dogs I care for, had a gorgeous litter on the 27th, around 10 in the morning. The litter is already registered with AKC and almost all of them already have homes. They're all gorgeous and healthy, except one of the little girls has a messed up tail.
-I got my first dog training customer the other day. She wants me to train her Golden Retriever/Poodle to heel, since the roads are icey now and it's too dangerous for him to be pulling.

Uhm. Thats all I can think of right now. Wiener and Sophie are still doing great, but I havent been able to train them a lot lately because of being so busy.

Oh, yeah. But you're probably all wondering why Sim is still here. Her owner, Zaps, got moved into a nice house and all settled in and ready for Sim. But then her aunt moved in. Her aunt has 2 little black dogs, Mischa and Sierra, a pregnant little white dog whome i forget the name of, and a Pit Bull puppy, Chula, that they found as a stray. So, adding these 4 dogs along with Nikki (Zaps' Pit Bull), Zaps, Zaps' mom, Zaps' mom's boyfriend, Zaps' aunt, and Zaps' 3 cousins, it doesnt make much space for Sim. But, Zaps' aunt is going to be moving out soon, and then Zaps' mom's boyfriend might be going back to New York, so it'll be back to just Zaps, her mom, Sim, and Nikki. Everyone will be moved out by Christmas, so Sim can go home.

A couple weeks ago, i took Sim with me to spend the night at Zaps' house, but when I left, i decided to leave Sim there just for a couple nights. Sim didnt care one bit that i was gone. She was playing happily with Nikki and cuddling with everybody and just being happy. When I came to pick her up i could hardly bare to take her away, but its too crowded there for a Springer right now.

As for me getting another dog after Sim is gone, its kinda.. yes but no. I wouldnt mind getting a little terrier or something, but with how A.j. has been acting lately, i dont think i want to risk it. So i decided, Im only getting another dog if something very special comes up, like if a dog i already know or care for needs a new home or something. I doubt that would happen, though, so its pretty much just me and A.j. for the next several years. I'm also still considering fostering or helping out for a Springer rescue.

Anywho. I think I've covered everything. Except cats. As for our cat problem; It is no more. We finally found some responsible owners who would take some cats and do everything that needed to be done to them (spaying/neutering/ect.). Its just down to Barrel, Squeaker, and Chuck now. Whoot!

So yeah, I'm going to stop typing now, before i go into some kind of cant-stop-typing syndrome or something.

Comments on what A.j. did or why he might of done it is greaty appreciated! I dont want him to end up doing that to Sophie, because i doubt she would stop if she got in a fight with him.

Thanks!! ^_^

Hey Mirg, welcome back!! I was wondering where you were... I noticed you hadn't been at GP for a while.

It's scary witnessing a situation like the one between AJ and Simetra, but without being there it's kind of hard to offer advice as to what to do about it. Unfortunately we won't know what brought it on, nor the happenings before the attack. The fact that AJ is still entire might have something to do with his aggressive behaviour, but I can't say for sure. If I were you I'd keep a close eye on the pair from now on. Don't let them outside together unsupervised.

On a lighter note, it's great to hear how well your job is going! I can't remember, what kind of dogs does this woman breed? Was it Golden Retrievers? Any chance of some photos of the pups?

Welcome back!

I don't know what to say about A.J. other than that my one of my ferrets did the same thing to a kit I'm fostering. They play rough which is normal, but Dameon had Indi by the scruff and Indi was screaming and Dameon wasn't letting go. I just went over and broke them up and then they were fine. I'm scratching my head over that one too. Some animals just don't know when to back off.

I'm glad to hear everything is going smoothly!

Welcome back Mirg! Good to see you, and glad to hear about your progress with getting pets altered! That's great. I have no insight to offer as far as AJ and Simetra. Is it possible his tooth was caught in her collar??

YAY about Simetra and good to see you!

Regards to AJ... I doubt it's springer rage, but sometimes dogs just have "had enough" or something... mine fought occasionally when they were younger. As long as he backed off and it wasn't "till death" I wouldn't be too concerned, but just watch him.

Other than that! Sounds like things are going really well, I'm so happy!

I LOVE the new sig!

Sounds like you have a busy life even with just one dog. Good luck if you decide to foster. I did that for a few years and it was one of the most rewarding things I ever did!

Wow, lots of stuff going on. Welcome back! We have not had the pleasure yet, but I look forward to getting to know you.

Sorry to hear about AJ and Simetra. I've witnessed my fair share of scuffles but sometimes the cause is really hard to figure out, especially if you did not see the whole thing. Good luck, hope it's not rage or any other neuro disorder.
