I have complained about these people before. I am sick of it. The girl next door just found out she is having a baby so now they will hopefully be looking to move cause the house they live in now is a one bedroom and they already have a 7 year old girl.
Just 30 minutes ago I heard my dogs barking like mad. Then I hear a yelp. I rush to the door to see the neighbors kid kicking their little dog. The little dog, Hannah, that I saw get beat with a stick by the guy one day. Then just as I was about to post this they come knocking at my door. I was like Oh NO! They had caught some kind of rodent that their cats were attacking and the chick wanted to keep it. I told her no you cant keep it cause its a wild animal. I lead them and it to a safe release place. It was some kind of rodent that I don't know of yet (I'm gonna look it up) but it was so old it had cloudy eyes and such. It was cute but man. It's so hard for me to want to talk to these people who act like they love animals but just aren't educated about them. I try my best to not come off as demanding or mean but I try to educate them little by little about proper care for their pets. I was happy to hear that they plan (now I don't know if this will really happen) on giving the little dog away to a retired lady who has lots of time and money (according to them) and needs a companion. Pray for that dog that they give it up to her. |

Ugh. I know how you feel.
We used to have some neighbors who had a Boxer named Gage...that poor boy. They would keep him chained up outside and when he happened to be in the house they would constantly hit him and scream at him for jumping up on things. The two little girls were terrors and I wouldn't even trust them around my dogs. The thing that got my goat was when one of the girls accidentally tripped over Gage and he fell down their stairs (and those are some BIG stairs). They laughed at the poor dog and didn't even check to see if he was alright. These were the same people who previously had two Rotties who they kept chained 24/7 and eventually put them down after they almost killed another neighbor's dog, had a Chihuahua that they "forgot" outside and the poor thing froze to death on their front porch (which they laughed about later), and had a Lab puppy for about a week that they let wander into our yard and almost get eaten by Blackie and Rose. I tried to educate them, but they just didn't listen. And when they went out and bought another Boxer puppy, I just quit. Thank God they finally moved away and we now have animal loving neighbors (who although aren't up to speed on animal care, they are a billion times better than the previous neighbors). ![]() So I feel for you and I hope they do move away and find a good home for their poor little dog. |

It's so unfortunate that you have to put up with that nonsense...and my heart just sank when I read that they beat their little dog
. Is it any wonder some dogs bite.Hope things improve for you and their dog. God bless your soul too, for showing where to release that poor wild animal. |

Wow, I too hope your neighbors follow through. Sounds like they are not good dog owners. I hope the dog goes to a more compassionate home.
So what was the critter, did you find out? Just curious. |

OMG I kinda found out what that little critter was. I feel so bad now. I wish I would have known or been able to find out quicker. The neighbor came over last night and was talking to me about this and that. Well she mentioned how her next door neighbor had a wire cage outside and she thinks that critter came from there. Then it dawned on me the local pet store that i despise sells those huge gerbil looking things. I bet anything it was theirs. I don't know why it was outside in a cage in the winter. But now I feel awful that I set it free probably to die in the yard. Man I could kick myself.
Seriously it was an old little guy but still I would have kept him if I would have known it wasn't just a little wild critter. I feel horrible about this. Oh on another note my neighbor was talking about how she is getting rid of her dogs (they have a baby on the way). She said she kicked Snow out of the house cause she ate a 3 lb candy cane. She told me how they came home and it was all over their bed and Snow was looking guilty sitting in the middle of it (the other dog was there in the house too but didn't get blame) She explained how she beat the dog for eating it. I told her the dog didn't know, she was bored and left alone in the house. She tried to go on about how they leave plenty of bones and treats around. UGH So I went on to tell her about how my dogs tore up some things recently when I left them home alone (I didn't know I was gonna be gone so long). I told her dogs minds aren't like ours they don't know what they are in trouble for unless it is happening right then and there. She told me, "but she looked guilty". I told her, "well its because of the vibes you were putting off and how you read her". I tried to explain to her that you can't beat the dog for something it did hours ago. I also told her I would help her find a home for Snow. I suggested Petfinder.com but I know this chick she doesn't have the motivation so I'm thinking of asking her if I can post the info up there for her. Or I'm thinking of announcing it on my Myspace. I'm not sure but that poor baby needs a new home. |

Darn it....poor gerbil
![]() About poor Snow, you might need to offer to take the dog to get it out of that house. It sounds like they are overwhelmed and not capable of finding poor Snow a good home. What breed is snow? Maybe if you can find a breed rescue or a local foster-based rescue that can help you find a good home. I know you must be horribly frustrated with your neighbors but maybe you can help them and little Snow. |

If it's any consolation, I'd think a Degu was a wild animal too from looking at pictures. What a strange looking rodent....
If you don't have room for Snow, you can foster her until you find a great home. Just a thought..... I took someone's dog this year because they were not able to keep her and threatened to take her to the pound. I had her 2 weeks until I found her a better home. Anyone can do it, it just takes time, lots of phone calls, lots of e-mails and patience. I posted an ad on craigslist for $50 dog and her mix (McNab/Lab). The person who responded to the ad had been looking for a McNab rescue to adopt and it worked out beautifully. |
