Grrrr Cant' let the dogs out

Why did I move to Florida???? Oh yea the heat and sunshine!! Now I remember. But I don't like it when I go to let the dogs out and there is a snake on my pool pad.... GRRRR I don't know about what kind of snakes there are around here and none of them are carrying signs to tell me if they are good ones or bad ones... So the kids can hold it for a while. He wasn't a big snake only about 30 inches long but I don' t want to take a chance on it being one of the bad guys!

Wow, that would be scary finding a snake in the backyard! You should try looking it up on the internet... I'm sure you'd be able to find out what snake it is.

Yikes! I would freak out if I did not know what species of snake it was. I am lucky. No venomous snakes where I live.

Well I looked on line and found out that we have an indigo constrictor in the back yard. They are harmless and a natural enemy to the poisonous ones so it can stay around the neighborhood JUST NOT IN MY YARD!!

The snake is under that big hibiscus bush near the pool patio. He's about 24" long and no threat to anyone. I just wish he would find someone elses yard more invitiing....

I just looked it up, it's such a pretty colour! I found this info on it:

The Indigo snake is a semi-tropical snake of considerable value for humans. They are protected by law wherever they are found. Maximum length is about 8 1/2 feet. Indigo snakes are found in sandy soils and often crawl into the burrow of the gopher tortoise. They feed on warm or cold blooded prey such as small mammals, birds, frogs, lizards and other snakes, including poisonous ones.
