Let the sleeping dog lay.

I totally agree with that phrase, but there isn't much I can do when my sleeping dogs lay in areas I need to walk though.

I have a terrible time with insomnia, and often get up multiple times during the night. Sometimes I go on the computer for a bit, watch a movie/tv, sometimes go get a drink and a quick snack. I'm rarely ever able to fall back asleep right away. When I first get up (no matter what time), I don't tend to turn any lights on, I can see well enough to navigate around the house, and the lights hurt my eyes if I turn em on right away. LOL

Problem is, I'm constantly tripping over animals in the dark when I don't see them. The cats like to lay right at the top of the stairs and will move when there hear me coming if they're awake, but they do on occasion get stepped on if they're out cold. Same with PJ and Tysa, they once in a while get stepped on accidentally. Sometimes I see the dogs and give them a "move over", which Tysa is always happy to do, but PJ, he's such a grumpy bugger if he gets stepped on or "brushed" slightly, or has to move out of the way so I can get by. He has to take his time and make sure to grumble and moan to let me know how much I've "put him out". He'll snort and huff while he slowly lifts his butt up to move, sometimes even giving me that side glancing evil eye. The "how dare you make me move!" look.

Well what the heck?! It's not like this is uncommon for me getting up, it happens just about every night, so why does he continue to lay in places he must know I'll be passing though at some point during the night? Surely my otherwise smart boy can't be that stupid! haha

My quick message to the dogs out there that are miserable buggers when they are woken up, "STOP laying where your slaves need to pass by!"

How funny!

My former roomate had a dog that would do the exact same thing. It was just too funy.
Niki sometimes would do the same think the snorting and whining and grumbling if you want her to go down and she does not want to. She will take her time to get on the down position one foot at a time and then she will just slide down with a noise, give you the evil eye and growl/whine at the same time -- but she does it anyway

she will also do the same think when SHE steps on me and she refuses to move her foot from my foot, so I can move

Funny!

Latte (toy poo) used to sleep with me and when I disturbed him during the night, he would growl. Somehow he knew growling at ME on MY bed wasn't appropriate so he would jump off of my bed and sleep on a cushion in the corner. Now he sleeps in a big crate with Boo and every now and again during the night I hear him growl. Poor Boo.

That is so true!!! But, the prob at my house, is I have 3 out of 4 dogs sleeping in my bed along with me and my hubby. We only have a full sized bed, which is already too small. Radar sleeps between my legs, Teddy sleeps against my belly, and Honey sleeps behind me legs. So, god forbid I'll have to get up for anything! If I'm able to get up and away from the dogs, I still have to climb OVER my 260 pound husband...lmao.

OMG, you have booby traps everywhere.

When you make your animals move they are probably saying "Hurry up mom, my spot is getting cold."
