Angry How sad- small rant

I know I shouldn't, but I have a bad habit of reading the classifieds for the region nearly every day (nearly). When I was browsing one for "up on the hill", I came across this ad . Sad fact, I seen the ad the "breeder" placed for the litter this pup came from. I hope the pup finds a good home with a more responsible owner. People can be so thick some times and common sense goes straight out the window along with good judgment.

I edited out the contact info and city named.

BLACK LAB PUPPY
I got a black lab puppy for the kids for christmas but cant keep her. Would like to get my money back and have her go to a good home only. $200.00 or I will take best offer if someone takes her home soon. She has all of her shots, is worrmed and has been flea treated. She is 8 weeks old. Would make a wonderful christmas present. Is doing great with housebreaking and kennel training. Loves everyone. Please email me and e-mail@e-mail.com or call 000 000-0000. thank you She came from "city went here " .

What? Why on earth would they give her away already? This puppy didn't even get a chance.

I wonder what her reasons are for giving the pup away so soon after getting it. The idea of giving puppies as Christmas presents is so irritating when families do not research first and actually see if their family WANTS a dog in the first place.

It is a shame but I'm glad the puppy will go somewhere she is wanted before bad things happened.

Isn't it. I have no idea why or what this person was thinking. They have another ad and only have had the pup for 2 weeks (prior to posting the ad). Makes me so mad ..

Wow that's just beyond sad. If only it were possible to ban the sale of companion animals in Dec. & Jan. these impulse (apparently disposable) xmas present stories are just heartbreaking.

And on a side note...they've had the pup for two weeks prior to posting the ad? So they got the pup at 6 weeks? Ack...just another sad part of this story.

Cass.

There is a particular shelter here in Sydney that doesn't allow any of it's dogs (or other animals) to be adopted in the Christmas period. I personally think this is a wonderful idea! They've chosen to do this to try and stop the impulse buying of pets around this time, I wish everyone would band together to do the same thing, but you know who are going to be the odd ones out (who won't want to conform to this rule), the awful irresponsible breeders.

That is what I read from it. The last ad, it's an update ad (newer) :
Quote:
Black Lab puppy
I have a 8 week old female black lab. I need to find her a home asap. If interested please call or email me. email@emaill.com or 208 000-0000. BEST OFFER Paid 200$ two weeks ago
I left the area code this time. This person is not very far from us and If I had $200 to spare I'd buy the pup , train her, get her fixed and find her a proper home. If they were not responsible enough at choosing a pup, then how would they know what to do, to find her a good home. Makes me cringe every time I see this type of ad.

Wow! That is unreal! That poor puppy. I hope it finds a real forever home, but going for BEST OFFER, who knows, the family just wants it gone. They are not interested in weather it will be going to a good home or not.

But I have to say I would LOVE to get a dog for Christmas! lol but I get what you are saying, they should ban the sales of puppies and dog at Christmas to stop the impulse buying. They are just to easy to obtain and therefore veiwed as disposable.

I would too, but we're both dog people so the xmas pup would be in good hands with us and most other members of GP. It's just the irresponsible people, who are unfortunately the majority, that I'm thinking of. But I see that you get my point. Oh how I wished there was a puppy under the tree for me this year though. LOL I kept telling everyone that when they asked me what I wanted...but alas, no one took me seriously.

Cass.

Maybe you could talk the price down? When I took in Indi, that ferret kit, they originally wanted $300 for her and everything...that wasn't going to happen. Eventually, out of desperation on their part, I got her and everything for 110$ (and that was only because I bought the cage...they were going to give me her and her things for $60). The had paid $400 for everything.

I hope that little Labby pup finds a good home.

I have the same problem about browsing ads....I know I shouldn't, but I do....

Cass, I thought of you the other day. I was browsing Petfinder and came across a predominately Bull Terrier brown and white puppy. It had the BIGGEST ears I've seen in my life and the biggest bully grin to match them! I thought, "Oh, Cass needs to get this one!" LOL I can't find it now, so it must have been adopted.

Wow, that's just aweful. And so true, they didn't give the pup even the slightest chance.

Oh, and Cass, I thought of you as well, and if there was a way for me to get that gorgeous lil Neo to you for Christmas, I would've done it! LOL

Why would give up a puppy so fast? The poor thing. They should have tried to keep it

Well, if that's the sort of people they are I'm glad they're not going to keep it and have it grow up unmannerly and mean. That happens, you know. I hope a deserving family gets that poor baby. IMO, they've begun to realize that "that cute little puppy!" is a lot of hard work, cleaning up, and exercise. UGH! I'm about to start majorly ranting, so better leave! :O

They no longer have her, she's here with us for the time being. We'll get her started on the basics, house trained, and vetted. She's doin' VERY well here, I really don't see how they could have any problems with her. They said she didn't walk on a leash and faught it, but she's an angel on it for us ! She's just a lil' sweety..
